ConcernedApe is still working on Haunted Chocolatier, but the success of Stardew Valley has put a pause on development

The solo developer of Valley of the StarsEric “ConcernedApe” Barone gave a brief update on the progress of his next title Haunted Chocolatier. Although this update was brought to light earlier this month, with the hype behind it Star recent milestones, fans took to the update post's comments to discuss their thoughts on the development pause.

ConcernedApe is in the process of creation Haunted Chocolatier for some time now, and although the update wasn't as positive as some had hoped, fans are still very proud of Barone. This solo developer's dedication is almost unparalleled, as he even worked during vacations to give fans patches and fixes for Valley of the Stars.

Haunted Chocolatier is still coming, but "When?" It's the biggest question

Node to update, ConcernedApe discusses being unable to work on their new title, Haunted Chocolatierin some time. This was due to the 1.6 update in Valley of the Stars being so big and taking up a large portion of your time. Even so, says Barone,

However, I also have a strong desire to make more games. I like making games and I have a lot more I want to share, with Haunted Chocolatier and more. And even though Haunted Chocolatier has only been revealed publicly to a small degree, in my private world it's a special place, and I'm very attached to the characters, themes and ideas.

While Star may have taken up a lot of his time, he hasn't given up hope of bringing the new title to the masses. Barone mentions that his next task will be to “tweak the existing bones until he’s happy with them” while adding the rest of the bones to get things moving in the right direction again. Just like he did with Valley of the Stars, ConcernedApe is coding everything from scratch and “working on all areas alone,” which is a monumental task in itself.

Title success must be time-consuming

The comments on the update post are extremely wholesome and enjoyable to read. Almost every comment mentions how Barone is doing a phenomenal job, and also how fans are willing to wait as long as it takes for the game to feel complete in the eyes of the developer. Valley of the Stars is such a success that it must be difficult to pull off a balancing act and juggle two full-time solo development jobs at the same time.

It seems that no matter how long the development process of the Haunted Chocolatier takes, fans know it will be worth the wait. Valley of the Stars It's a testament to the immaculate work ethic and dedication that ConcernedApe puts into its games, and we can't wait to see what the next title brings.
