The new romance blooming in the middle of Cobra Kai The sixth season reinforces theories about the final obstacle that the series' main characters will have to overcome. Due to nature Cobra Kai At the end of Season 6, Part 2, there is a strong feeling of ambiguity regarding what the last segment has in store. Even if the Sekai Taikai Tournament isn't cancelled, there's barely enough fighting left to fill five episodes. Since it is clear that the third and final arc will extend beyond the competition, it can be assumed that Cobra Kai the main characters will soon have another conflict on their hands.
The show has been careful not to reveal its hand until now. Johnny and Daniel's rivalries with Kreese and Silver remain unresolved, but it remains to be seen whether either conflict will drive the plot of an entire five-episode arc. One possibility is that another character – namely, Kim Sun-Yung – will be his main opponent in the future. This is made more likely by two developments in Cobra Kai Season 6, part 2, one of which being Chozen's relationship with his granddaughter.
Cobra Kai hinted at a rivalry between Kim Sun-Yung and Sato
It appears that Kim Sun-Yung and Chozen's uncle were once enemies
The romantic relationship formed between Chozen and Kim Dau-eun has some interesting implications for the series, especially since their relatives have an established history. Shortly after realizing that Terry Silver was a student of Kim Sun-Yung, Chozen revealed a connection between his uncle, The Karate Kid Part II Sato and the infamous Tang Soo Do master. According to Chozen, Sato accomplished “very angry” in relation to Kim, who trained American soldiers during the Korean War. Interestingly, the program did not go into detail about the origin of this anger, as even Chozen himself seemed to be unaware of the reason for it.
However, at least some assumptions can be made about their relationship. Considering that they were both experts in martial arts and that one didn't like the other, it stands to reason that the two were rivals. Their differences in methods and natural competitiveness could have fueled any personal resentment they might have had for each other.
Sato's history with Kim Sun-Yung could make Chozen a target in Season 6
Chozen may soon find itself in Master Kim Sun-Yung's sights
The problems Sato had with Kim, whatever they were, will likely carry over into the present. After all, Sato's nephew and Kim's granddaughter seem poised to become a couple. Given the show's portrayal of Kim Sun-Yung as a very traditional martial arts master, it's not hard to imagine him taking a hard-line stance on someone in his family becoming romantically involved with a rival's blood relative. Assuming Sato's hatred for Kim was mutual, this new romance is on track to become a big problem for all three characters.
Heading in this direction could be what pulls Kim into the orbit of Cobra Kai main characters. As things stand, he has had no reason to personally know any members of Johnny and Daniel's Miyagi-do dojo and has apparently stayed on the sidelines in South Korea. But if Chozen and Dae-eun want to continue their relationship, the former can feel compelled to meet Kim in person.
In addition to potentially rejecting Chozen, Kim could see it as a way to project her rivalry with Sato onto a new face. After all, it's important to note that this kind of generational rivalry is a common trope in old-school martial arts films, of which Kim appears to be an intentional caricature.
Kim Sun-Yung, being the final villain of Cobra Kai, would promise a bigger role for Chozen
Chozen would certainly receive a major storyline if Master Kim was the final villain
While this theory about Kim coming true could spell trouble for any hopes of her new romance working out, it would be good news for her character's story overall. If Chozen is someone that the villain of the last five episodes has a personal feud with, that would open the way for the character to significantly influence the fights to come. Since joining the cast in season 4 Cobra Kai has already been generous with Chozen in terms of the screen time he was offered, but the latest segment has the potential to go even further.
It's important to note that although Chozen fought Silver, his and Kreese's main opponents were always Daniel and Johnny. Master Kim, on the other hand, would have reason to focus specifically on Chozen. This could allow Chozen to have a unique role to those he has played previously and create some exciting matchups in the future. Another benefit of this story is that it could lead to Chozen finally fighting Kreese, a character he surprisingly hasn't had any interactions with yet. Cobra Kai.
Other Evidence That Kim Sun-Yung Is Cobra Kai's Final Villain
Kim Sun-Yung is in an excellent position to be Daniel, Chozen and Johnny's next obstacle
What the series is currently doing with Chozen and Dae-eun isn't the only indication that the series is laying the groundwork for Master Kim to be the series' ultimate antagonist. The most obvious sign arises simply from what it represents; As the martial artist who trained Kreese and Silver, Kim is essentially Cobra Kai's true father and, in turn, the catalyst for every conflict the franchise has seen since the events of the first film. For that reason, it would be fitting for the show to make Kim its last”very bad.“
There is also the question of Kwon's fate in Cobra Kai. It is unknown whether Kwon has any personal connection to Kim other than being one of his dojo's students, but there is a strong possibility that the chain of events triggered by his death includes the appearance of his master. Due to Kwon being under the guardianship of his dojo, Kim could demand responsibility for his death and attempt to make Kreese's feud with Miyagi-Do her own.
Learning about her granddaughter's relationship with one of the dojo's senseis – who happens to be the nephew of a former enemy – would naturally only worsen tensions.
Of course, Miyagi-Do isn't responsible for what happened to Kim, but he might not know that right away and look for someone else to blame. Considering that the feud with Miyagi-Do was the reason for the fight in the first place, it would make sense for Kim to direct her anger towards them in the first place. Cobra Kai. Learning about her granddaughter's relationship with one of the dojo's senseis – who happens to be the nephew of a former enemy – would naturally only worsen tensions.
