Christine Brown and David Woolley have an unhealthy relationship (warning signs were missed)

Star of Sister WivesChristine Brown, continued to be a driving force in the gradual downfall of once plural marriage. Christine, as patriarch Kody Brown’s third wife, has been outspoken about the unfair dynamics between the four wives. Before his introduction to the big family, Kody was married to Meri and Janelle Brown respectively. Robyn Brown, the fourth wife, was the last addition. Notably, Kody and Robyn’s marriage, unlike the others, is not just a “spiritual”marriage, but legally binding.

After Robyn was introduced, the prejudices within the family became more evident. As Kody devoted more time and energy to his fourth wife, others felt that their relationships and their children’s relationships with Kody were neglected. Christine was the first to leave Kody in 2021, with Meri and Janelle opting to divorce the patriarch in the following years. Put Sister Wives in season 19, it became evident that the divorces were beneficial to the freed women. Although Christine seems happier than ever with a new partner, their relationship seems equally unhealthy.

Christine and David moved on very quickly

Christine has hardly recovered from her last relationship

Christine met David Woolley, her now husband, in February 2023. Two months of dating later, in April 2023, David proposed to the reality TV star. Six months later, the couple got married. Christine was with her ex-husband Kody Brown for over 25 years before their eventual divorce. Although the two are clearly safe with each other, the mother of six probably rushed into a whirlwind romance with her new man.

Although Christine is undoubtedly much more fulfilled, unfortunately, her resentment towards her ex has been demonstrated throughout this novel.

Although she seems to have a clear vision for her future, the two-year dating gap hasn’t changed her feelings toward Kody. From relationship posts to subtle jabs at the show, Christine did everything she could to prove to Kody that she’s happier without him. In a September 2024 post on CristinaOn Instagram, she shared a collage of her and David with the caption, Every day I am reminded that love really can be better than I ever imagined.” Although Christine is undoubtedly much more fulfilled, unfortunately, her resentment towards her ex has been demonstrated throughout this novel.

Christine’s children expressed their discomfort

Christine’s children expressed their apprehension regarding the relationship. In May 2023, Christine’s son Paedon Brown questioned her rapid development and shared that the couple would not receive their blessing. Her daughter, Ysabel Brown, also highlighted her concerns. To avoid upsetting his mother, Paedon offered: “Mom, acknowledging that it’s going fast is not saying it’s bad. It’s just us being observant.” While the family was overjoyed to see their mother meet her match, their extensive trauma caused by Kody and the teenage nativity scene with David raised some red flags.

Christine let her resentment affect the wedding ceremony

Christine is not ready to move on

In an October 2024 episode, while Christine and David were planning their wedding, Christine revealed that several people would not be invited to the ceremony. The undesirable parties included Kody, Robyn, and Meri.

Cristina shared, “Let’s invite Janelle to our wedding, Janelle’s kids’… ‘I’m not ready to be around Meri, Robyn and Kody yet.’

The drama contained in plural marriage seeped into Christine and David’s marriage. While Christine’s ultimate goal may have been to get ahead, it appears her past involvements remained on her mind.

Sister Wives Christine Brown may have been the first to leave her toxic relationship, but she hasn’t completely left the past behind. Throughout her seemingly perfect relationship with David, her past trauma led her to rush into another relationship, ignore advice from loved ones, and cut off other people. It seems that forgiveness and acceptance may be the best developments for Christine’s independence. If she doesn’t let go of her bitterness, it could affect her relationships indefinitely.

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10pm EDT on TLC.
