Chock Chapple is a great catch (does Joan Vassos even deserve him?)

The golden bacheloretteChock Chapple has received a lot of criticism since getting engaged to Joan Vassos, but it's unclear why he's become the target of so much ire. The 60-year-old father of two seems like a wonderful guy and a great catch. The insurance executive traveled from Wichita, Kansas, to the iconic Bachelor mansion in Los Angeles, California, to win Joan's heart, and that's exactly what he did. Joan, 61, made her television debut in The Golden Bachelor, but she left the show early due to a family emergency. Gerry Turner's loss was Chock's gain.

Chock made a great first impression on Joan because he received The golden bachelorette first solo date of season 1. The romantic day at Disneyland brought them together, and their bond grew as the season progressed. They got engaged at the end of the season, and the newly engaged couple seemed extremely happy together. After Chock's 12-year marriage to Heather Chapple, with whom he had two children, ended in divorce, he met and fell in love with Katherine Goree. After a nine-year engagement, Katherine passed away in 2022leaving behind his own two children. Chock told Joan that losing Katherine was one of the most devastating losses of his life. He's still close with her family, and in fact, when Joan went to Kansas to visit Chock's hometown during the season, Katherine's father was there with Chock's family.

Since I got engaged at the end of The golden bachelorette season 1, Joan and Chock wanted nothing more than to reunite their families. Joan and Chock have six adult children, and Joan also has several grandchildren. From the moment Chock made his television debut in The golden bachelorette season 1, he did everything right. He loved Joan and fought for her. He gave her all his heart, without playing games or pretending to be something he's not. Chock is a great catch and a good man who doesn't deserve the scrutiny he receives. That being said, he chose to be a public figure and unfortunately the unfair scrutiny of perfect strangers is part of the grand bargain.
