Daredevil: Born Again Charlie Cox talked about the changes made to his Daredevil costume for the upcoming MCU series. During his time as Daredevil, he wore several different iterations of the costume, from a rudimentary homemade black outfit to the iconic red version to the throwback yellow suit. The last of which was only used in She-Hulk: Attorney at LawAlthough Cox recalled thinking “sh**t, that’s so cool” The first time he saw it. Even so, the standard red suit is Daredevil’s most recognizable look.
therefore, It makes sense that Marvel would choose the Crimson design for Daredevil: Born Again. The actor doesn’t seem too upset about the change, though he has another wishlist item for his next costume. of his Daredevil: Born Again Outfit, Cox had this to say at New York Comic Con:
The one we have in this new show, I think the color is so cool, it’s a really cool Daredevil red. I just hope that one day I graduate to the Daredevil DDs.
Despite the many iterations of the Daredevil suit, Cox never got to wear the logo. At first, this made sense, as his Daredevil is more grounded and isn’t particularly inclined to put his initials on his chest. However, now that Matt Murdock is headlining a series in the MCU, it only makes sense for him to proudly wear the double Ds on his chest.
Charlie Cox has long been an audience favorite as Matt Murdock, and he himself is a huge fan of the character. Naturally, he would be interested in wearing a more comically accurate version of the classic red suit. However, Cox specifically referred to adding the logo to his costume as “graduating“, which implies some kind of fear for him. Perhaps Daredevil embracing his logo could be another step in his journey, As he is one of the most self-reflective characters in the MCU. Alternatively, Cox may just want to pay tribute to the character he loves to play.
Daredevil: Born Again Will be a treat for fans no matter what costume he wears. However, seeing Cox don the traditional Daredevil suit would be fun. Regardless, the return of Daredevil and Kingpin promises an exciting rematch, especially given other comments Cox has made about the series. The actor teases more of Wilson Fisk, explaining: “We get a much deeper look behind the scenes of Fisk’s world than we necessarily have in the past.“
