World of Darkness Chaotic mode has been released for Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail. This pits an entire alliance against an enhanced level 100 version of the Dark Cloud seen previously in the story events of A kingdom reborn. This isn't just the same fight with a 50 level boost; instead, Cloud of Darkness has additional moves and behaviors to keep everyone on their toes. As long as the entire team can coordinate, the boss should be an average challenge.
World of Darkness (Chaotic) can be unlocked by completing level 100 Dawn trail mission How the West Was Sung. Speak to the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollai (x: 11.2, Y: 14.7) after completing the patch 7.0 main story and gain access to the raid. Square Enix has stated that completing the raid with 12 players is technically possible. However, at launch, it is recommended that you bring 24 players with a composition of six tanks, six healers and 12 DPS. Everyone must also have a minimum item level of 710, which is easily achieved in the Echoes of Vana'diel raid.
Cloud of Darkness Attacks and Strategy
Stay away and avoid quickly
Despite Dark Cloud's ferocity, it doesn't use any new attacks that haven't already been seen in FFXIV expansions Shadow Heralds or Endwalker. If you have completed the Savage level attacks, it will be easier to anticipate what is happening. However, the Dark Cloud attacks incredibly quickly and can overload with multiple simultaneous movements. It's this combined attack that really earns the attack its Chaotic title.
The first thing to know is that the Dark Cloud Automatically attacks all three main tanks. They hit hard and reduce the tank's resistance to further damage. This makes it important that the three out-tanks use Provoke to protect your partnersa shared ability of all tanks in FFXIV. Additionally, a powerful bleed damage over time effect can also occur, making it important for Healers to recover health and be active with Ensua throughout the fight.
Top Darkcloud Attacks
When starting the fight, the boss can share a large area of the field with his right or left hand. Like many attacks on FFXIVthis is highly telegraphed and can be avoided by getting under the opposite arm. Alternatively, she can slam into the ground directly in front of her, making it important to run away from melee range.
Then Dark Cloud will trigger two moves at the same time. First, several lasers will appear in the south and east of the map. Turn your camera to spot them all and dodge accordingly. Second, a random amount of players will be hit with stillness markers seen in the past FFXIV attacks like Eden's Gate. This starts with a counter of five, and when they reach zero, you look away from the rest of the attack.
Dark Cloud has push-out and pull-in mechanics from the center inwards FFXIV. If a blue circle appears, get as close to the circle as possible to avoid being knocked out of the arena. If the circle is black, move away so you don't get killed instantly, then run to the dead center to avoid the follow-up attack.
Stygian Shadow Minions
At around 70% health, Dark Cloud will summon three Stygian Shadow clones positioned in the west, south and east of the map. These are essentially the same enemies from Eden's Promise FFXIV: Shadowbringers. Tanks will need to move these minions to avoid attacks from all four enemies. This includes tanks moving close to the main cloud when it attacks outward and dragging minions to the outer circle when using common line attacks. FFXIV.
At several points, Meteor pads will appear. More than three to four players should stay on top of them to avoid spreading damage from heavy attacks, as seen in many other FFXIV attacks. The Stygian Shadows themselves also tie a wall and release cone-shaped explosions: one directly in front or two on the sides; this order is random. Shadows can also go left or right from where the main tank is facing.
After dealing enough damage to all three Stygian Shadows, the Dark Cloud will return to its original pattern. If your team's DPS is strong, it should be at 20% health. It should only take another three or four minutes of fighting and dodging to overcome the attack. All players will earn the Cloud Strife achievement, a slight nod to Final Fantasy 7.
Armor rewards and exchanges
There are direct drops and tokens
Upon defeat, the Dark Cloud will drop two armor chests corresponding to the normal FFXIV head, body, hands, legs, and feet armor slots. Using this item in the city will generate item level 730 equipment for your current job. Players will need to pitch lots against their seven teammates.
Additionally, the number of Clouddark Demimateria will drop. By default, there will be two per person, but Additional currency will drop if someone in the raid has released it for the first time. Take these Demimateria to Uah'shepya in Solution Nine (x: 8.7, Y: 13.5) to buy more FFXIV gear.
World of Darkness (Chaotic) may seem very scary to face Final Fantasy 14. But without a weekly lockout, it's a great way to accumulate a lot of top-notch gear. Practice with a group of friends or a large company and you will be able to solve it with enough practice and patience.
