Warning: SPOILERS for Chainsaw Man chapter #182
chainsaw man has never been a stranger to shocking twists, and the newest chapter #182, titled “Fluffy,” appears to be proving that notion. Many characters have met dark endings throughout the series, but none have left a more lasting impact on fans than Aki and Power’s deaths in Part One. However, the hole left by his absence in chainsaw manThe second part may have just been filled, as they both finally returned to the story almost 100 chapters after their last appearances.
Denji, who has been in a near-catatonic state since Nayuta’s death, gets a rather wholesome lecture from Asa while the two remain trapped in the Aged Devil’s world. She offers some of the wisdom that Denji once shared with her during the Falling Devil arc, in a surprisingly wholesome moment between the two protagonists. The kind words apparently have a profound effect on Denji, who suddenly vomits up the semi-digested carcass of the Snow Demon, eaten by Pochita during Chapter #174.
Aki and Power make their big return in Chainsaw Man
Denji’s found family returns for the first time in part two
As snow begins to fall in Aging’s world, Denji’s gaze settles on the ground in front of him, before a sudden cut shifts focus to a boat. Looking over the railing are his old family members, Aki and Power. Whether they are an illusion from the mysterious world of Aging or just appearing through a flashback of one of Denji’s old memories remains to be seen. Without considering, chainsaw manDenji’s two most beloved lost characters have finally made their grand re-entry into the story and will likely provide help to Denji once again.
This chapter signaled one of the key moments between the three characters in Part One, showing how close they became despite a rocky start, before setting off a chain reaction that ended in tragedy. Aki’s subsequent request to be removed from the Gun Devil mission alerted Makima that her plan to take down Denji was working well. Now, as Denji is once again filled with despair, whether physically or through a flashback, Aki and Power will likely give him the love he has sorely missed since they left the story.
Other memories may return if Denji continues to get sick
Pochita also ate the bitterness and devils of the octopus
While nothing has been fully confirmed, if this vision is truly just a flashback, it could have major implications for the future of the story. Chapter #182 marks the first time Denji vomited something Pochita ateand if his memories of Aki and Power were erased along with the Snow Devil, the theory that Pochita was targeting concepts directly related to Denji’s past trauma holds up. And Snow wasn’t the only demon he feasted on.
Pochita also devoured the Demons of Bitterness and the Octopus, pointing to Yoshida’s eventual return whenever the Octopus returns. The bitterness is a little more ambiguous, though it could be related to Denji’s memories of Reze, with whom he shared a coffee he described as bitter. Pray, another beloved chainsaw man character, has been absent from the story for even longer than Aki and Power, and could be the next to return to chainsaw manpages.
It remains to be seen whether Aki and Power will play any future role in Part Two, other than just being a painful memory for Denji.
