Chad Michael Murray’s New Netflix Christmas Movie Makes Up For Him Leaving Gilmore Girls 5 Seasons Early

Chad Michael Murray joins the many famous actors starring in Netflix’s 2024 Christmas movies with The merry gentlemenreminiscent of the actor’s old TV show, Gilmore Girls. Murray starred as Tristan DuGray in the successful WB comedy-drama series about the relationship between a single mother and her teenage daughter. Unfortunately, Murray only appeared in 11 episodes throughout the first two seasons of Gilmore Girls before he left the show.

Tristan was one of Rory Gilmore’s classmates in Gilmore Girls who was also something of a bully. He used to tease Rory, mainly about her virginity. As the episodes continued, however, romantic tension between Rory and Tristan began to build, making him a romantic rival to Jared Padalecki’s Dean Forester (Rory’s boyfriend at the time). However, other than a kiss, not much happened between Rory and Tristan before Murray left during Gilmore Girls season 2. Murray has starred in several popular shows and films, with The merry gentlemen being his last project.

Murray stars as Luke in the cast of The merry gentlemenwhich follows a Broadway dancer (Britt Robertson’s Ashley) who conspires to save her parents’ small-town nightclub. To raise money, Ashley plans an all-male Christmas-themed dance show, which is how Murray’s character comes into play.

It is clear that the fact The merry gentlemen takes place in a small town makes it seem Gilmore Girls-esque. However, the city’s dedicated traditions, enthusiastic citizens, and welcoming aesthetic also make it comparable to Murray’s former comedy-drama series. For all these reasons, Netflix’s 2024 Christmas movie might just make up for Murray’s departure Gilmore Girls five seasons before ending.
