Another of Universal's classic monsters, Wolf Manis being redone and the long-gestating project is finally coming to fruition. Since the failure of Dark Universe, Universal has adopted a different plan to resurrect its classic monsters, which include characters like Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolf Man, Frankenstein and The Invisible Man. The studio decided to shift the focus to self-contained stories rather than interconnectivity and shared cinematic universes, which has been difficult to achieve in the horror genre.
After the success of 2020 The Invisible Man proved that independent horror films still worked for monsters, Universal quickly greenlit a remake of The Wolf Manbut the project stopped. Several production delays kept the furry night stalker away from the big screen, and star Ryan Gosling's departure was seemingly the silver bullet that would end the project for good. Fortunately, Blumhouse and Universal moved forward on the remake of The Wolf Manand the lycanthrope is expected to return in 2025.

How the Wolf Man connects to the monster's universe
Do monster movies connect?

With that in mind, it makes sense that Wolf Man it took so long, since Blumhouse and Universal are probably trying to find the best way to expand the universe without going overboard.
