The Netflix original comedy Tires was renewed for a second season before the first season even premiered, and there are already exciting updates about the second season. Created by comedian Shane Gillis alongside John McKeever and Steve Gerben, Tires follows Will (Gerben), who inherits his father's auto repair business called Valley Forge Auto. As he tries to get the company back on the right track, he is constantly pursued by his cousin Shane (Gillis), who has made it his life's mission to undermine Will's efforts to fix the business.

The six-episode first season of Tires wasn't particularly well-received by critics, and many noted that it wasn't the most original comedy to grace the streaming airwaves (via Rotten tomatoes). However, the debut season was an immediate hit for Netflix in terms of viewership, validating the streamer's decision to greenlight the show for Season 2 before Season 1 premiered. The end of Tires Season 1 left the door open for more, and Season 2 will give the show's creators a chance to add a little more substance to the story beyond the usual laugh-out-loud comedy.

In an unusual move, Netflix chose to renew Tires for a second season before the first even premieres (through Variety). The streamer famous for its long delays between seasons opted to grant a sophomore outing for the Shane Gillis vehicle and it was likely Gillis' growing star power that prompted the move. Streaming data has proven that Netflix's gamble is a smart one, and fans won't have to wait in limbo for the fate of their new favorite comedy. Although an exact date is not yet known, Netflix confirmed that Tires will return in 2025.

Tire Season 2 Cast Details

The Valley Forge Auto crew will return

Because the series is an ensemble story that relies so much on the chemistry between its main characters, the cast of Tires Season 2 will probably be very similar to Season 1. Shane Gillis and co-creator Steve Gerben will no doubt return as Shane and Willrespectively, and it's Shane's relentless bullying that makes the show so hilarious. The rest of the Valley Forge Auto team should be back as well, and Season 2 is also expected to feature a host of guest stars. However, until the premiere, it will be impossible to guess who these guest stars will be.

The cast of Tires however, it also grew a little and Church TV legend Thomas Haden (Twisted metal, Sideways) joined the show. According to VarietyChurch will appear as Phil, Shane's father, who is just as much of a bully as his son. Phil is described as a wealthy businessman and misanthrope living in Florida. It's unclear how he will fit into the Valley Forge Auto dynamic, but two bullies will certainly create an explosive environment.

Tire Season 2 History

Will the store be sold in Season 2?

Valley Forge Auto team discusses strategy in a meeting seen through the Tires store window

The end of season 1 of Tires it was both nerve-wracking and hopeful, and while Will hadn't entirely proven his father wrong, he certainly impressed his doubting father by putting together a sales plan that worked. However, the store sale is still an option and may continue to appear in season 2. Encouraged by their success in the Season 1 finale Will and Shane are sure to come up with a new scheme that cuts the hard work short to save the store.

The official season 2 logline reads:

After the unexpected success of their big marketing idea, Will (Gerben) and Shane (Gillis) race to grow personally and professionally without fully realizing the cost of doing business.

As for Shane, he clearly grew up a lot during the first season, and your quest for maturity will likely continue into the second year as well. Although he will probably never fully grow up, he did come to his cousin's defense at the end of Season 1 and showed that he has learned quite a bit. When Tires When season two finally arrives, it will introduce some new complications to annoy Shane, Will, and the rest of the team.

To announce the show's upcoming second season, Netflix released a short provocation to Tires in late 2024. Playing as a full scene rather than in trailer format, the clip reveals that NFL player JJ Watt came to Valley Forge Auto to shoot a commercial. Unfortunately, Shane and Watt have a past, and the antagonist can't help but poke at the football player's old wounds. This causes Watt to storm out without filming his commercial, but he still demands payment of his fees.
