Continuing to achieve the record for longest running show in Netflix history, Virgin River reached another major milestone when it was renewed for season 7. As she's learned over six seasons so far, life in a small town isn't easy, and Virgin River delivered enough twists and turns to rival any other romantic drama on TV.

Maintaining an annual release schedule since 2019 (an incredible feat considering TV streaming delays), Virgin RiverSeason six offered some major changes. Mel and Jack's will-they-won't-they finally came to a final conclusion when the pair got married, and it was the perfect culmination of years of storytelling. However, Mel's journey of discovery is far from over and she has only begun to scratch the surface of her family's history. Virgin River Season 7 Story Details

A lot of drama comes to town in Season 7

Martin Henderson as Jack and Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel in Virgin River, season 6, episode 10

Unsurprisingly, Virgin River Season 6 was full of twists and turns that will inform the plot of the upcoming Season 7. Mel and Jack's wedding was a satisfying next step for the duo who have anchored the show since the first episode, and while their relationship is strong, the drama turns around them like a hurricane. Perhaps The most pressing question in Season 7 is Charmaine's fate (Jack's old romantic adventure). She came back into his life after the twins debacle, but so did his old boyfriend, Calvin.

This brought tension to the new nuptials, but Charmaine's strange behavior made Jack nervous. Things got especially bad when he discovered that her house had been ransacked, making her absence seem like another missing person case. While it's not confirmed that Calvin is behind the problem, he's the most likely culprit considering his past with Charmaine. Elsewhere, “Doc” Mullins' practice is being actively threatened by the expansion of Grace Valley Hospitaland its bureaucrats have already positioned themselves as potential antagonists for season 7.

Finally, Mike's proposal to Brie was made despite the fact that he knows about her past with Brady, and their story is just starting to heat up. Hope's old friend Muriel also discovers she has breast cancer, a diagnosis that will transform her life. In addition to all this, Mel's search for closure about her family history continues as her new relationship with her biological father, Everett, continues to reveal more unknown details. Virgin River Season 7 will be important for a number of reasons, not the least of which is its myriad of compelling stories.
