Apple TV+'s hit sci-fi series Silo returned for its second season in late 2024, and now the dystopian drama has been renewed for a third season. Based on the novel trilogy of the same name by Hugh Howey, the series follows the remaining survivors of the post-apocalypse, who live underground in a huge silo complex. The impetus for the show's drama is a woman named Juliette (played by Rebecca Ferguson) who doesn't accept the government's story about the past and how humanity came to live in a silo. The first season was a success for Apple TV+, and more episodes were quickly ordered.
Season two continues the series' trend of high tension, as Juliette finally defies those responsible in her quest to find out what really happened to humanity. Escaping the silo, Juliette finds something that will turn the entire series upside down, and she quickly becomes a folk symbol for the rest of the complex's residents. This escalation clearly won't be resolved in just two seasons, and there are already plans to continue the story in more seasons. Now, Apple TV+ has mapped Silofuture for the next two seasons.
Silo Season 3 Latest News
Apple TV+ renews Silo for two more seasons
A few weeks after star Rebecca Ferguson announced there were plans for more seasons, the latest news confirms that Apple TV+ has renewed Silo for two more seasons. The announcement takes place during the second season, and the launch of the second year, still unfinished, has already attracted the audience attracted by the attractive first season. The announcement of seasons 3 and 4 also came with the revelation that season 4 would be the last, thus completing the dynamic story.
Showrunner Graham Yost, Apple TV+ head of programming Matt Cherniss, and series star/executive producer Rebecca Ferguson expressed their excitement about the show's future, saying:
Graham Yost : It has been a very rewarding experience adapting Hugh's epic novels with our partners at Apple and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over four seasons. With the final two chapters of “Silo,” we can’t wait to give fans of the series an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.
Matt Cherniss : The addictive, inventive and moving “Silo” had us hooked from day one and we loved seeing global audiences become equally enamored with the world that Graham Yost created. As we look ahead to seasons three and four of this ambitious character-driven sci-fi series – which will conclude Juliette Nichols' journey and complete Hugh Howey's epic trilogy of novels. We can't wait for everyone to experience more of the show's powerful performances led by the incomparable Rebecca Ferguson, as well as the unexpected twists and surprises we've come to expect from this very human story.
Rebecca Ferguson : I loved every minute of bringing Juliette to the screen and I am immensely proud of what we have all created with “Silo” since the first episode. I've always been passionate about telling the full story contained in Hugh Howey's books, so I couldn't be happier that audiences around the world have enthusiastically embraced the show. Alongside our partners at Apple, Graham and the entire cast and crew, I can't wait to dive into these final two thought-provoking seasons that will beautifully bring this dystopian story to a close.
The third season of Silo is confirmed
Apple TV+ has ordered two more seasons
Not only did the streamer secure the show's future for now, but it also announced that Season 4 would wrap up the story
Though the writing was on the wall that Silo was going to be renewed, Apple TV+ made the surprising decision to order not one but two more seasons of the twisty sci-fi drama. The streamer not only secured the show's future for now, but also announced that season 4 would conclude the story, thus allowing the book trilogy to be fully explored on the small screen. While the impending cancellation (after season 4) is somewhat disheartening, Apple TV+'s transparency about the series means viewers won't be left in the dark regarding renewals.
Silo Season 3 Cast Details
Who will return in season three?
At this stage, it is difficult to predict who will succeed Silo Season 3, as much of Season 2 has yet to be revealed. However, It's safe to assume that many of the show's stars will be around when the show returnsespecially since bigger things are probably looming on the horizon. The most logical return is that of Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette, and her martyr status among the remaining members of the silo community means she is a key figure in the story. Likewise, big supporting figures like David Oyelowo's Holston and Common's Sims are a necessity.
Every hero needs a villain, and Tim Robbins is also expected to return as the villainous Bernard, especially as his power over the community begins to wane. If the world beyond the silo continues to expand in future seasons, it also stands to reason that the show will also add a number of new names to the mix, though it's impossible to guess who that will be at this early point.

Silo Season 3 Story Details
Will order be restored to the silo?
While the books offer some structure to the series, It is difficult to predict exactly what will happen in Silo Season 3 until more details are revealed throughout Season 2. Obviously, tension is rising within the silo and things are going to explode into a violent exchange at some point. It's highly likely that some sort of attempted insurrection will happen in Season 2, but that won't be the end of the story. The announcement of seasons 3 and 4 confirms this fact.
Juliette's discoveries outside the silo will also likely change the trajectory of the series, and if she can return to the main silo, she could share that information. The most likely scenario is that Silo Season 3 will be completely different because of some major twist in Season 2, but until that moment happens, there's no way to know exactly what the plot will be.
