Apple TV+'s divisive period drama series Palma Real has been renewed for a second season and there are already many exciting updates about the second season. Created for TV by Abe Sylvia (from the book Mr. and Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel), the series concerns aspiring socialite Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she attempts to infiltrate the complicated social scene of 1960s Palm Beach, Florida. With its luxurious costumes and scenography, Palma Real captured the striking, exaggerated look of its period while offering a scathing critique of class and status in the United States.

A Carol Burnett Show Reunion Is Planned for Season 2
One of the biggest stars of the first season was comedy icon Carol Burnett, and the latest news confirms that a former co-star of Carol Burnett will appear in Palma Real season 2. Working together for years in the beloved Carol Burnett Show and comedy Mom's family, Vicki Lawrence and Burnett will reunite in the cast of Palma Real. While details about her character are unknown, Lawrence will appear in the series and will even share scenes with Burnett. More details are expected to emerge as the program gets closer to launch.

Although reviews for the first season were weak, Palma RealThe debut season of was a huge success in terms of ratings. As such, Apple TV+ chose to renew the series about a month after the first season ended in June 2024 (via The Hollywood Reporter). Clearly banking on the series' potential popularity, the first season intentionally contained a number of obstacles that necessitated a follow-up season. Filming began in September 2024 (through Collider), but a full timeline for the series' return has not been announced.

The Star-Studded Ensemble will return in Season 2
Although Palma Real season 1 ended with some shocking twists, the cast of the series is expected to remain intact in season 2. Some returns are guaranteed, including SNL former student Kristen Wiig as aspiring socialite Maxine, who is devoted to her deceitful husband Douglas (played by Josh Lucas), who is also likely to return. Also returning is Carol Burnett as the devious Norma Dellacorte who spent the entire first season plotting ways to kill Maxine and get out of her conservatorship.
Ricky Martin's Robert Diaz may have been shot in the season finale, but since his death wasn't shown, he's expected to recover. Meanwhile, the gripping conflict between Evelyn (Allison Janney) and Linda (Laura Dern) is just beginning, and these two powerhouse actors will also return. Among a host of other potential returns, the cast has already grown with the addition of Full house star John Stamos in an as-yet-unnamed role, as well as comedy legend Vicki Lawrence, who will reunite with former co-star and creative partner Carol Burnett.

A ton of suspense left over from the first season
To say that the 1st season of Palma Real left many questions unanswered would be an understatement, and it is clear that just set the stage for an explosive second season. Having spoken his mind about everyone at the Palm Royale while performing on stage, Maxine made enemies of the socialites she tried to befriendand the consequences will be unimaginable. On a more personal level, she will also have to deal with her husband's infidelity and the baby he is expecting from another woman.
About that, Norma's machinations to take down Maxine aren't over yeteven if your initial plan failed. This means she will go after her father-in-law and Maxine's life could still be in danger. Robert was shot at the end of Season 1, and his fate has not yet been revealed, and Evelyn's battle against her stepdaughter, Linda, is heating up. The writers couldn't have added more twists Palma Real if they tried, and season 2 will have a lot of knots to untie.
