As far away from the Jedi as Cassian Andor is, he still has a surprise Star Wars connection to Anakin Skywalker, one facilitated by Anakin’s old apprentice. After the release of the Star Wars TV show AndrCassian became one of Star Wars Best characters, and certainly one of the most interesting. Despite his fate in Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryCassian’s story is pivotal to the eventual victory of the Rebel Alliance over the Galactic Empire, making him a smaller scale hero of the Galactic Civil War – and connecting him to a Clone Wars hero.
Anakin Skywalker and Cassian are about as opposite as two people can be in these Star Wars Galaxy, with the former being famous as one of the strongest Jedi of his time and the latter being a boots-on-the-ground type of everyman hero. Despite this, there is one connection between the two parts that ties them together. The link, forged by Anakin’s former Padawan Ahsoka Tano, brings together the heroes of two different eras in an unexpected way.
Cassian Andor used Anakin Skywalker’s “Fulcrum” codename
The name was essential to the Rebel Alliance
The codename “Fulcrum,” first adopted by Ahsoka Tano after Order 66 and the fall of the Galactic Republic, originates from a secret communication channel that Anakin Skywalker would use during the Clone Wars. The origin of the name is revealed in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7, Episode 9 “Old Friends Not Forgotten,” which came after his Star Wars Debut in Star Wars Rebels. Inspired by her Jedi Masters old communication channel, Ahsoka took the name to keep her identity a secret, and it became an integral part of Rebellion intelligence.

The full title went far beyond Ahsoka, vi It instead became a way to hide the identity of intelligence operators while relaying orders to their subordinates and other contacts.. Cassian, upon earning his rank of captain in the Rebel Alliance, was one of the operatives to take on the Fulcrum codename, doing so mostly as part of the Alliance’s mission to the planet Mustafar. This means that Cassian actively used a title that originated with Anakin Skywalker, linking the two heroes together.
Other Star Wars Characters Who Also Used “Fulcrum”
Cassian & Ahsoka are just two of many others
Seeing as Cassian wasn’t the only intelligence operative in the Rebel Alliance, he certainly wasn’t the only one to take the full title. After being trapped on a deserted planet with Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, Kallus was inspired to defect to the Rebellion, although the journey began with him acting as a spy within the Empire’s ranks. He used the Fulcrum title to get information to the Rebel Alliance, though it still took a long time for them to trust what he had to say. He is simply one of the many to take on the full name, a title in Star Wars Which originated with Anakin Skywalker and has since been passed down from his own apprentice to people like Cassian Andor.
