Baldur's Gate 3 has ten companions that can join the player, eight of which have their own romance paths. Many of these novels have subroutes depending on the player's choices throughout the story; for example, two people dating Astarion could have totally different stories if one of them chose to date him as an offspring, if the other did so as an ascendant vampire.
A character available to players romance in BG3 It's Minthara. However, many people may set her path of romance aside because she is better suited to purely evil plays. Despite this, his story could be just as compelling in a non-evil play,
Romance with Minthara, explained
The perfect character for an evil romance
It's probably not a surprise that Minthara is the least romanticized companion since most for the first time Baldur's Gate 3 players won't end up recruiting her. If they do, it will probably also be in a "bad"Play or one where they attack the woods, where their romance begins. A truly evil play loses Wyll, Karlach, and Halsin and possibly extends to the loss of Gale, Jaheria, and Minsc, depending on certain choices and rolls the player makes, which means they can often stick with Minthara as a romance option.
Minthara's personality fits perfectly with that of an evil character from Dark Urge. She is one of the few companions who attempts to persuade the player to obtain the power of the Absolute. She is actively disappointed when they choose not to accept it, unlike some other characters who may be initially tempted by this but eventually realize it is better to destroy it. This is the main reason why many good-aligned players won't end up romancing Minthara, but anyone who wants to start their evil deeds later in the game without killing the druids and tieflings may still want to consider her as an option.
What happens if you date Minthara without breaking into the Emerald Grove?
You miss your first romance scene, but this might be the best outcome
To gain Minthara as a companion without raiding the grove, the player must somehow leave her alive in Act 1. The most efficient way to do this, especially if the player wants to stay"well aligned," is to knock her out with a non-lethal attack, as this allows Halsin's quest to also begin. However, Minthara's main romance scene is only triggered after breaking into the woods. It has no similar content in Act 2 or 3, probably because at this point it would seem out of place due to the revelations she had after killing Ketheric Thorm.
Although Minthara has a lot of conversations and romantic content after Act 1, his only unique cutscene is triggered after breaking into the woods. This means that if a player wants to romance her without massacring the druids and tieflings, they will have to miss out on this potential part of her story. Some players may prefer it this way; however, since this means they can pursue Minthara without the scene where she tries to kill them, it may make them feel like the relationship was created on a more genuine basis.
How to romance Minthara in a well-aligned playthrough
Take her side and tell her you see her as a lover
If a player has played their cards right with Minthara, then in Act 3, he will eventually trigger a conversation where Minthara will open up to him and invite them into her mind, as seen in a video from a YouTube user shenanigans. This scene can occur in a play with a tendency towards evil or good and is not an alternative to the goblin party scene. The player will then have the option to decide how Minthara views them, from several options, one of which is "a lover." This officially solidifies the player and Minthara as an item.
Players can experience this scene if they have enough approval from Minthara. It's easier to get approval early on, after breaking into the woods, but it can be developed through Acts 2 and 3. Minthara appreciates anything that appeals to her desire for power, whether the player takes power for themselves or praises her ambition, for example by telling her that sitting on Ketheric's throne suits her. Minthara is an underrated character in Baldur's Gate 3and while she has less content in her romance route, it should be something every player experiences at least once.
