The trailer for Back in action it arrived. Netflix’s upcoming action comedy, which premieres in 2025, will be Cameron Diaz’s first film in more than a decade following her retirement from acting in 2014, the year she starred in Annie, sex tapeand The other woman. Directed by Horrible bosses‘ Seth Gordon and also starring Jamie Foxx, the film follows two former CIA agents who are now suburban parents. However, their past comes back to haunt them when their cover is blown. The cast also includes Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott and Jamie Demetriou.
Netflix have now revealed the official trailer for Back in action. It starts with Cameron Diaz giving a speech about being rejuvenated and feeling alive again, which could be interpreted as normal marital talk, but is interspersed with a series of high-octane action scenes, including Jamie Foxx using a flamethrower. What follows is a mix of action and comedy, as the couple’s children learn about their parents’ CIA past and embark on a variety of adventures, one of which ends with Diaz saying, “If I didn’t have upper inner thigh strength, you’d be dead.“Watch the trailer below:

Lives up to its title
The trailer for Back in action shows how the title is an apt description of Cameron Diaz’s return to acting. High-octane events return her to form with the action genre after starring in his fair share of action titles early in his career. Although she is probably best known for starring alongside Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu in the Charlie’s Angels films, she also appeared in Minority Report and Knight and Daybetween others.
However, the Netflix action film allows Diaz to embrace his comedy style as well. The comedy genre is what the actor is probably best known for after their presentations in The mask and My best friend’s wedding led to a number of comedy leading roles in films, including There’s something about Mary, The holiday, The sweetest thingand Very bad things. As the trailer highlights, her new project has allowed her to embrace both sides of her career at once.

Cameron Diaz’s return is promising
The trailer for Back in action shows that Diaz got to work with his return to film. This makes her upcoming roles in projects including Shrek 5 and the Jonah Hill written and directed Result look even more attractive. Although her vocal performance in Shrek shows that she’s not averse to returning to some of her iconic roles, Result appears to show that she remains interested in starring in original comedies once again, which could result in a major resurgence after a decade away from the industry.
