The synopsis of the series finale Blue Blood teases the dramatic, high-stakes ending for the entire Reagan family. The final episode of the long-running CBS procedural is just a few weeks away, as it is scheduled for release on CBS on December 13th at 10pm ET. On the eve of the program’s farewell, during interviews with the Blue Blood cast, there are some indications that the farewell will be a mix of happiness, but also a bit of tragedy.
TV Line shared the synopsis of Blue Blood series finale, titled “End of Tour”. The synopsis is included below, it promises to be all hands on deck for the Reagan family as they face a potentially deadly crisis when all of New York’s gangs unite to make one demand:
The Reagan family has it all together as they race to stop the deadly chaos in the city when New York’s gangs unite to demand amnesty for the release of their imprisoned members and those awaiting trial.
What the series finale could mean for the Reagan family
There is a death
There are still a few stops left before the Blue Blood end of the series. Before the procedural withdrawal, CBS will air the retrospective special Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy on Friday, November 29th at 8pm ET on CBS. Entertainment tonightNichelle Turner will host the special, which will feature the cast sharing their favorite memories and some never-before-seen moments, as well as new details about the famous Reagan family dinners.
After the celebration, however, there may be some cause for concern about the Reagans’ position. It has already been confirmed that the Blue Blood final will feature the funeral of a police officeralthough it’s unclear who it’s specifically aimed at. Still, this is in line with what the cast said about the last episode, including some sadness as well. Both the series finale and penultimate episode will be one hour long.
The new synopsis promises that the longtime TV network will bow out with an appropriate sense of urgency while remaining true to what the story has always been. For better or for worse, Blue Blood it was always about the Reagan family versus everyone else. The last episode, in addition to being a celebration, will also feature one last highlighted scenario that plays with the current theme.
Our opinion on the ending of Blue Bloods
It’s an unlikely happy ending
The reports made it clear that, at one point, Blue Blood season 14 may not have happened. The cast and producers agreed to take a pay cut to help ensure the crew remained employed and the story received a proper conclusion. Although the cancellation decision proved controversial, these episodes gave cast members Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray a chance to get some closure on their characters. It also allowed longtime executive producer Kevin Wade and the writing team to craft a worthwhile send-off.
