THE Birds of Prey it’s home to some of DC’s most powerful women, and the team has a wide range of abilities. However, it’s not their individual talent that makes them strong – it’s the bond they have with each other – and Black Canary knows this runs deeper in the second. BatgirlCassandra Cain. Cass has an uncanny ability to connect with others, placing her at the center of Birds of Prey.
Birds of Prey #15, by Kelly Thompson and Sami Basri, continues with Batgirl’s secret mission starting to go wrong. Cassandra becomes somber and sparks concern among her teammates, especially Big Barda, who has grown very fond of her “Small Bat” since joining the group. Instead of allowing Barda’s concern to turn into anger that could jeopardize the mission, Dinah assures them that Cassandra is “almost everyone’s favorite” and that they need to trust her ability to take care of herself.
Although Batgirl isn’t physically present in this moment, Black Canary succinctly captures everything that makes her special. Cass is extremely talented, but she’s also easy to love.
Batgirl’s talent and compassion place her at the center of birds of prey
The effect extends to all teams she joins
Batgirl’s early days didn’t prepare her for social success. Her father, David Cain, trained her as a weapon, refusing to teach her any spoken language or allow her any “normal” childhood experiences. Meeting Barbara Gordon and Batman changed the trajectory of Cassandra’s life. Becoming Batgirl not only gave her a purpose and a path to overcome the violence she was born into, but she also learned to connect with real people. Your unique way of reading body language isn’t just for fighting. She can understand the feelings of others and has consequently become an incredibly compassionate person.
She’s steadfast, loyal, and easily one of DC’s most talented fighters, it’s no wonder she becomes a favorite of any team she aligns with.
Combining this compassion with her unexpected humor and, of course, nearly unbeatable combat prowess makes Batgirl extremely versatile. She seems to fit in like a glove with any team or family she’s a part of, whether working alongside Batman and the Bat-Family, the Outsiders, her fellow Batgirls, or the Birds of Prey. Cassandra never compromises her values, but manages to fit in perfectly with those who share them to a certain extent. She’s steadfast, loyal, and easily one of DC’s most talented fighters, it’s no wonder she becomes a favorite of any team she aligns with.
Batgirl makes the Birds of Prey a stronger team
Although Cassandra’s relationships are attractive and many people support her, she gives as good as she gets. Not only can Batgirl clear a room of enemies in seconds, but she constantly looks for the good in others and helps them find it. She managed to break through a cursed and furious Barda and calm things down between Cela and Barbara, all while reaching parts of them that no one else thought about. She is competent, empathetic and easy to get along with. Batgirl is the hero everyone wants on their team, and the Birds of Prey They are better for having it.
