Best Mythical Island Lightning-Type Deck and How to Use It

With the release of the Mythical Island expansion pack featuring Mew, the Pokémon TCG Pocket meta has changed with its new cards altering some of the previously ideal decks, including Lightning-type decks with the former Pikachu. Some decks have been changed much more significantly, like the addition of Celebi and Serperior in Mythical Island or the caped Pokémon Mew being an essential part of Psychic-type loadouts. In this case, though, a key card makes former Pikachu decks much more efficient. There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to this mini-expansion, including the immersive, full-art Celebi card that's a must-have.

There is even a new range of secret missions on the Mythical Island that, when completed, provide dedicated players with lots of useful extra rewards to help on their journey by collecting as many cards as possible. The Pokémon that appear most in Lightning-type decks, such as Pikachu ex and Zapdos ex, are still not the most powerful cards in the game. Either way, it can be a deadly glass cannon deck and a true force to be reckoned with if used right.

Best Cards for a Mythical Island Electric-Type Deck

Former Pikachu, former Zapdos and more

The best cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket that you can use in a perfect Lightning type includes many of those that were already in the game before Mythical Island, including Former Pikachu, former Zapdos and Blitzlebut also using Dedenne as a new addition. Many of these cards are the same as the best former Zapdos deck, but have certain Pocket Monsters like Tynamo and its evolutions, Eelektrik and Eelektross, removed and replaced with Dedenne and other Trainer cards. If you are playing TCGP regularly since launch, you'll probably need most Genetic Apex cards. However, you can obtain any odd items you are missing by spending Pack Points on the Pack Point Exchange. Since Dedenne is the only Mythic Island card you need, you can get it instantly by spending 35 Pack Points.

How to win using an Electric-type deck Mythical Island

Make Dedenne paralyze efficiently

Win with this Lightning-type deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket It's as simple as it was before Mythical Island was released. With Blitzle and Zebstrika as easy-to-set-up starter Pokémon, the most damage you will do will be later through Pikachu's ex and Zapdos' ex when you supply your bench and your energy. Pikachu's ex only needs a full bank and two energy to inflict 90 damage at a time, so it's the most reliable compared to Zapdos' ex's coin flips.

Dedenne is an alternative starter Pokémon for inflicting Paralysis on an enemy. Compared to Pincurchin, which costs more Energy to use its Paralysis move, Dedenne is much more efficient to use as you prepare your most powerful team members. Remember the golden trio formed by Pikachu's ex, Zapdos' ex and Dedenne; victory in Pokémon TCG Pocket it will be yours.
