Benedict Cumberbatch comments on what's to come Doctor Strange and their excitement for the upcoming Avengers films, as well as Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. In 2026, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally see the debut of another Avengers film for the first time since Avengers: Endgame. Cumberbatch has appeared in some of the MCU's best films, and his Doctor Strange couldn't be left out Avengers: Judgment Day. After the box office success of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessMarvel is likely considering Doctor Strange 3, and it looks like Cumberbatch's role in the MCU may not end there.
At Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Film Festival (via Deadline), Benedict Cumberbatch teased that Doctor Strange could still have a long future in the MCU. The actor began by describing his MCU character, revealing that he is interested in exploring what the cost of Doctor Strange's need to control everything could be. Then, the MCU star teased Doctor Strange's future, saying: “There's so much more to play with.” The Marvel character would be a good fit for many future MCU films, such as Spider-Man 4, Avengers: Secret Warsa rumored Midnight Suns movie and more. “He's an idiot. He is an academic. He has a very fierce brain, but he is motivated by the need to control certain things at any cost, and that always has a cost. So I'm interested to see what those costs will behow it affects him and how he needs to adapt to continue evolving and be what he needs to be in that universe, and how it affects him. There's so much more to play with. It’s very exciting.”
