One important NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3 Has the perfect opportunity to become a romance option, but they are still being ignored after all of Larian’s updates. With many options between playable party members and several side companions, The romance mechanic is one of the most popular aspects of the story. There are still plenty of NPCs that players think should be romance options, but one character is often forgotten in these lineups. They play a powerful role throughout the game if they stay alive, and can make for a riveting romance choice that stretches the entire game.
The latest patch 7 update came with many additions to the game, mainly introducing evil endings for origin characters and modding support tools. But between adding more legendary actions in Honor Mode and cleaning up cinematics, it is Additions to be made for new romance options between existing characters. Larian Studios has completely ignored considerations for new options in updates, leaving players to speculate both who and if already known NPCs could become potential partners.
Romancing Zevlor could expand on his story
Falling in love with a leader comes with its challenges
The leader of the Tiefling refugees and former Hellrider commander Zevler is a character who, if kept alive by the right choices, Is actively present throughout the game. As soon as players meet Zevlor in Act 1, his leadership and loyalty to his people become clear and establish him as a determined personality. If Zevlor would become a romance option in the future Baldur’s Gate 3 Update, his deeper story and background may be revealed to players in a heartfelt and honorable romance path.
Players learn little about Zevlor and his pastAnd romancing him may allow him to open up more about it. He remains a loyal and valuable ally as the game progresses, but there is potential to dig a little deeper with him. There would be a lot for him to open up about: the fall of Elturel, his Hellrider oath, taking on the responsibility of leading the refugees to safety, and the burden of fallen allies he can carry. He can be similar to Halsin in a way, where the care and balance of a leader is present.

Zevlor has his priorities in protecting his fellow Tieflings, thus A successful relationship with him would lead to players becoming part of the ambition. Impressing him and getting on his good side would include tasks like protecting the grove in Act 1 and rescuing the imprisoned Tieflings in Act 2, choosing an honest game that embraces the charitable and the decent. Zevlor would be a protective lover, which would be projected in any potential scenes that come with his romance path. He is also a paladin with an oath, so expanding that aspect of him can flesh out his character.
Would Zevlor become a party member if a romance option?
Adding a paladin companion to an already complete list
Considering both scenarios, it would depend on the direction Larian decides to take Zevlor’s romance if it would ever seriously consider him as an option in the future. There is already a stacked list of playable companion charactersIncluding the six origin letters, Halsin, Mintara, Jaheri, and Minsk. They all already cover most of the classes, but Zelvor as a playable paladin companion would be an interesting addition. Considering how many in-party companions there are, it would be unsurprising if Zelvor was left as an unplayable romance character much like Mizora.
Similar to Halsin and Mintara, if Zevlor were to join the playable companion ensemble, it would take certain circumstances. Taking his cause of helping the Tiefling refugees get to safety at Baldur’s Gate would have to take priority, and any reluctance or ignorance of his goals would prevent him from joining the party. He would most likely join the party permanently And assist players on their adventures once reaching the city in Act 3 after securing the safety of his people. Especially with a successful romance, Zelvor would choose to follow his lover after his goal is complete.

Having him as a companion would also give him a bigger role in the epilogue scene added to tie up loose ends. Meanwhile, with the addition of Patch 5, Zelvor only leaves a note for players in the collection scene. If players decide to romance him, he would probably come along to reunite with the other companions and have some valuable dialogue about the final battle against the Netherbrain. When he is not bound to his paladin oath until the end, implied in the tone, there may be an implied future in the city with the player’s character.
Introducing Zelvor as a romance character is a thought-provoking consideration that Larian has the opportunity to take. With no updates to new potential romance candidates during any patches to the game so far, there is still a possibility that existing NPCs could gain and benefit from becoming options. some of Baldur’s Gate 3s Most complex and captivating characters are drawn through a romance path. Turning the Paladin Tiefling leader would make an excellent addition to the list, both for a playable companion and partner.
