There are countless pieces of armor for fighters in Baldur’s Gate 3as it is an incredibly versatile class. The game is constantly feeding the player with new items for melee classes throughout all 3 acts, so never lack of options for fighters. However, much of the best equipment isn’t found until Act 3.
To make the most of the Fighter, players should prioritize equipment that grants bonuses to Armor Class and Saving Throws, as they will be in the thick of battle more often than spellcasters. Fighters excel in close-range combatso items that allow fighters to take as much damage as possible become vital Baldur’s Gate 3 progresses. This also means that Fighters benefit from items that provide additional movement speed, so they can get close to their enemies in fewer turns.

Cloak of Protection
Bonuses to armor class and saving throws
The Cloak of Protection is a perfect cloak for Fighters in order to accumulate Armor Class as high as possible. This cape can be purchased in Act 2 from Quartermaster Talli at the Last Light Inn. It grants the wearer a +1 to Armor Class and +1 to Saving Throwswhich is invaluable for frontline classes.
Being at the front of a combat encounter means that Fighters will often be hit by most enemy attacks, which means they will have to make saving throws and dodge more often than non-martial classes. This means that accumulating Armor Class and Saving Throw bonuses They are most valuable in frontline classes like Fighters. This also pairs well with the Indomitable reaction that Fighters get at level 9, which allows Fighters to reroll any Saving Throw once per Long Rest.
9
Protection Ring
Keep accumulating armor class
THE Protection Ring
It’s a fantastic bonus for all characters, but it’s best for melee classes that stack Armor Class. According to IanistoocommonIn the video, the Ring of Protection can be acquired by helping Tiefling children in BG3Emerald Grove to get Mol’s approval. This will cause Mol to ask the player to steal the idol of Silvanus from the Druidswhich can be done without angering the Druids after the Ritual of Thorns is interrupted.
The Ring of Protection grants its wearer +1 to Armor Class and Saving Throws, which is exactly the same passive as the Cloak of Protection. Therefore, Using these items together grants the user double effectivenesswhich is quite strong when few items increase Armor Class. Some players may see value in distributing these items between two different characters, but I prefer to use them at the same time in a Fighter build.

Assassin’s Sweetheart
Critical strike guaranteed by long rest
The ring is most commonly used in explosive damage builds to destroy a boss as quickly as possible. This ring is found in Act 2 after completing the Self-Same Trial within BG3The Gauntlet of Shar. Make sure Shadowheart is with your party and offering his blood to the Goddess Shar.
It provides the user with the Executioner skill, which grants a critical hit to an enemy for Long Rest. It is the same ability as the Illithid Luck of the Far Realms power. This ability is invaluable in boss fights as it can be used in conjunction with buffs and debuffs to ensure maximum damage to the target.
7
Amulet of Greater Health
Increase Constitution to 23
is found at the very end of the game in Raphael’s House of Hope, in the Archive. Convince the Archivist that you belong here and explore the Archive as you please. They will be located on a pedestal on the right side of the room, triggering a trap if the amulet is stolen before the trap is disarmed.
If the player decides to use this amulet, I recommend respecting and discarding the Constitution stat points to put those extra points into Strength or Dexterity or distributing them to saving throws.
The amulet of better health sets the user’s Constitution stat to 23which is an incredibly strong effect. This increases the user’s health by a significant margin, especially if used in conjunction with the Resistant talent, which provides additional HP per level. If this amulet is not contested by the other members of the group, it should go to the tankiest member.
6
Hill Giant’s Gauntlets of Strength
Increase Strength to 23
THE Hill Giant’s Gauntlets of Strength
are an interesting piece of armor, as they automatically set the user’s Strength stat to 23. As seen in Nico Gaming liveIn the video, these gauntlets are found extremely late in the game in Raphael’s House of Hope, where they must be stolen from the pedestal on the left side of the Archive, just like the Amulet of Greater Health. Swap unwanted equipment for the gauntlets to prevent the trap from being triggered, or simply steal them.

Most Fighters will already have a high Strength stat, so it can be assumed that there is no reason to give these gauntlets to a Fighter. However, players can respect their fighter to spend strength so they can put those extra stat points into Constitution and Dexterity. This allows Fighters to increase their initiative through Dexterity while maintaining 23 Strength with these gauntlets.
5
Legacy of the Masters
Permanent Attack Bonus
Gauntlets are the true endgame choice for all melee classes, given how phenomenal their passive effect can be. These gauntlets can be purchased or stolen from Dammon in Act 3 at the Forge of the Nine in Undercity. If Dammon doesn’t reach Baldur’s Gateso these gauntlets cannot be obtained without mods.

Legacy of the Masters provides the user with a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls with all weaponswhich can contribute to Critical Hits occurring more frequently, as well as higher base damage. It also provides +1 to the user’s strength saving throws. Some may consider the Warmaster’s Gauntlets stronger because they grant a boost to the Fighter’s maneuvers, but I prefer passive buffs over active buffs.
4
Viconia Walking Fortress
+3 Shield with Spellguard
is a legendary shield that can be looted in Act 3 from Viconia DeVir, the Mother Superior of the House of Pain in Baldur’s Gate. This shield is one of the few +3 shields in the gamewith the others being rare shield variants with no special effects. Many fighters end up using two-handed weapons in the late game to take advantage of the Great Weapon Master, but for those who don’t, this shield is a must-have.
The Viconia Walking Fortress has a lot going on, as seen in Game Guide Channelvideo. With his special Shield Bash called Rebuke of the Mighty, which deals additional Strength damage. It also has a passive effect that grants its wielder Advantage on saving throws against spells and Magic Attack Rolls against the user have Disadvantage. It also has a free cast of the Warding Bond spell and the exclusive Class Action Reflective Shell, which reflects all projectile damage back to its point of origin.
3
Boots of Persistence
Increase movement speed
The Boots of Persistence are one of the best pairs of boots in the game and can be purchased or stolen in Act 3 of Dammon in the Forge of Nine. If Dammon had never reached Baldur’s Gate, this is yet another item that would not have been possible to obtain without the use of mods. An alternative option is the Boots of Psionic Movement, but these are only best for Githyanki Fighters.
The Boots of Persistence grant the wearer the effects of Freedom of movement
and Long Step
permanently. This means that the user is no longer hindered by difficult terrain, cannot be paralyzed or containedand gains an additional 10 feet of movement speed. This is an incredible choice for fighters who need to get up close to deal as much damage as possible.
2
Armor of Persistence
Gain all physical damage resistances
is arguably the best heavy armor in the game and is the last piece of equipment that can be purchased or stolen from Dammon in Act 3. Some may think that the Hellish Twilight Armor
is better, but this breastplate is best for characters who are not proficient with Heavy Armor, because it grants proficiency to whoever is wearing it. Therefore, for Fighters who are already proficient with Heavy Armor, Persistence Armor is essential.
The Armor of Persistence grants the wearer the effects of Resistance
and Blade Ward permanently. Resistance provides a +1d4 bonus to all saving throws, and Blade Ward provides resistance to slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning damage. This makes the fighter absurdly tanky, especially when this chest’s base armor class is already 20.
1
Balduran’s Helm
Ignore critical hits and stuns
THE Balduran’s Helm
it’s the quintessential legendary item that makes all other helmets look terrible in comparison. This helmet can be acquired in Act 3 after killing the Bronze Dragon Ansur beneath the Wyrmstone. It is by far the best helmet in the game, but it can only be used by classes proficient in Medium Armor.

Balduran’s Helm heals the wearer for 2 HP at the start of each turn, meaning it can revive the wearer. It also grants a +1 bonus to Armor Class and Saving Throws, meaning this effect can stack three times with Protection items. It also provides immunity to stunned and critical hits, which is perfect for fighting Mind Flayers. With all of these items together, players can become virtually invincible in Baldur’s Gate 3.
