Nicole Kidman has been in many critically acclaimed films, but her recent films have unfortunately not been as successful, creating a memory of Kidman's previous negative streak on Rotten Tomatoes in early 2010. In 2011, Kidman starred Just go ahead and Invasion and served as producer for Monte Carlo each received a score of less than 50%. These three were followed by The newsboy and Hemingway and Gellhorn in 2012, which suffered the same fate. Fortunately, his 2013 film Stoker broke the streak with a 70% approval rating on Rotten tomatoes.

Unfortunately, this sequel directly followed an equally negative Rotten Tomatoes sequel from just two years prior. From 2007 to 2009, Nicole Kidman starred Margot at the wedding, The Golden Compass, Lagerfeld Confidential, Australiaand Nine, each received "rotten" scores from critics. The films also scored fairly evenly with audiences, exhibiting their average overall reception. This first streak was finally broken in 2010 with the acclaimed film Rabbit Holetitle that Kidman also produced.

After its release, the public can now fully understand why Little baby was able to stop Nicole Kidman's most recent streak. Likewise, Halina Reijn's story is well-written and self-contained, without leaving the audience feeling like something is missing. More generally, Little babyKidman's plot and themes are also more critically appealing than Kidman's recent films, even in the case of A family affairwhich featured similar story details.

Films like Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a family affairand Fascinated They're certainly entertaining, but they're not necessarily the kind of films that tend to get high ratings or awards buzz. The drama and erotic suspense aspects of Little baby make the film stand out more than a superhero sequel or Netflix movie, so it makes sense that it would be more critically acclaimed. Since Nicole Kidman has found success with similar genre films previously, perhaps Little baby will serve as a reminder of the roles in which her talent shines brightest.
