More than a year since Disney Lorcana released The first chapterthe newest set – Azurite Sea – is here to take players to tropical locations on the high seas. This also means that characters get new marine-themed flare and that new cards often reflect a pirate aesthetic. Disney movies like Treasure Planet, Big Hero 6, and Lilo and Stitch shine, but characters from Winnie the Pooh and Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers are also featured prominently here.
The Illuminator’s treasure for Azurite Sea is a perfect representation of this theme and beloved Disney IPs. THE the box itself features Jim Hawkins of Treasure Planet, Tigger, Stitch and Baymax from Big Hero 6. The first three are all dressed in pirate costumes, but Baymax gets a striped life jacket – and they all appear in part of a ship with waves behind them. It’s a cool new look for a lot of Disney characters and an aesthetic I loved in both Azurite Sea Starting decks.
What’s Included in Ilumineer’s Trove For Azurite Sea
Booster Packs, Data and More
While the storage box is nice, it’s really the items inside that most people care about. The Illuminator’s treasure for Azurite Sea contains the following items:
-
8 booster packs
-
6 card dividers
-
6 damage counter dice
-
1 knowledge counter
-
And the storage box itself
Each booster contains 12 cards which are, of course, randomized. The boosters feature Baymax, Stitch and Yzma on the front. The storyteller – and one of the dividers – features Stitch and his “Alien Buccaneer” card art. There is six card dividers, featuring: Jim Hawkins of Treasure PlanetYzma’s The Emperor’s New GrooveHercules, Tigger and Baymax from Big Hero 6.
The dividers are made from a very resistant cardboard that I always use to separate the cards according to the ink in each set. The storage box is also perfect for storing all the cards, although it is too large to be used as a deck box to take to competitions. From a collector’s perspective, is an ideal way to store Azurite Sea cards.
Highlights of the cards from the Azurite Sea set
New enchanted art ups the chase factor
Of course, the highlight of Azurite Sea set of Disney Lorcana These are the new Enchanted cards. Each Enchanted card looks like an old nautical map and sometimes even has pencil-like markings around it. It’s a great new aesthetic introduced here, and while I haven’t pulled any Enchanted in my Trove, they’re some of the most impressive chase cards I’ve seen in the TCG so far.
Is the Illuminator of the Azurite Sea treasure worth it?
A great collector’s item with bonuses too
Illumineer’s Trove is really more of a collector’s item than anything, offering a way for fans to store their cards while opening boosters. If you don’t have a counter or official Lore data, this is also a great way to get it. Those interested in trying the TCG for the first time will probably want to start with the various Disney Lorcana Starting decks out there, or even Disney Lorcana: Portalwhich is a great introduction to the game. Still, Illumineer’s Trove is great for any Lorcana fan out there and would also make a nice gift this holiday season.
Compared to other Enlightener treasures, Azurite Seais pretty solid and maintains the usual item types (and quality) that Disney Lorcana gave us in the past. While I always bemoan the lack of booklets in these newer boxes, everything included here is great. As a set, Azurite Sea quickly became one of my favorites – and nautical art is, without a doubt, a highlight. It seems Disney Lorcana reached new heights with Azurite Seaand I can’t wait to see what comes next.
