Tom Holland is returning for more in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a new Avengers: Judgment Day theory presents the perfect reasoning for how Venom and Knull could end up in Spider-Man 4. Holland’s Spider-Man films are easily among the best in the MCU, whether in terms of quality or financially. Spider-Man: No Way Home It was an Avengers-level eventalmost breaking the US$2 billion mark. As such, Sony and Marvel must be having a hard time deciding whether to continue the setup. Spider-Man: No Way Homeis ending in a street story or return to the multiverse for more.
Anyway, Tom Holland Spider-Man 4 is happening. The film’s story is still kept under wraps, but rumors about the possible returns of Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire have already begun to emerge. So far nothing is certain, but with the MCU’s Multiverse Saga entering its final stretch, Spider-Man 4The placement of in the MCU schedule seems to suggest that a multiverse story could be what’s in store for the film. Spider-Man 4 is the only film confirmed to be released between the next two Avengers filmsand its possible multiverse story could include Venom and Knull.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man may die in Avengers: Judgment Day
Peter Parker should be one of the main characters in the film
What is the case with Tom Holland? Spider-Man 4there are no concrete details about Avengers: Judgment Daythe story has been revealed. However, a big announcement has been made, with Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU to play Doctor Doom in the next two Avengers films. RDJ’s return to the MCU instantly points to Holland’s Spider-Man playing a major role in the upcoming Avengers films. Iron Man was Peter Parker’s mentor in the franchise, and even if Marvel Studios chooses not to make a Tony Stark variant of Doctor Doom, the fact that the villain has the same face as Stark should play a role.
Given the popularity of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, his previous role in two Avengers films, and Peter’s connection to Downey’s first MCU character, there’s a good chance that Holland will have plenty of interactions with Doctor Doom in Avengers: Judgment Day. A look at MCU theory Spider-Man: No Way HomePeter Doom’s ending, forgotten by the world and sad, is the perfect scenario for Doctor Doom to manipulate him. Upon learning about Tony Stark’s mentor’s relationship with Peter, Doom could manipulate the hero and eventually kill him. That would give Avengers: Judgment Day at least one major death, similar to Avengers: Infinity Waris ending.
The next two Avengers films will be directed by Infinity War and End of the gamedirectors, the Russo Brothers. Killing off Spider-Man would fit with how the directors upped the stakes between the last two Avengers films. However, Peter Parker would not die for a long time. The piece of the Venom symbiote that was left in the MCU when Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock briefly visited the universe in Spider-Man: No Way HomeThe post-credits scenes are still there. The symbiote could bond with Peter Parker, reviving him and creating a huge multiversal story for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4.
Venom: The Last Dance Prepares Knull’s Escape
Sony’s Spider-Man universe and the MCU could clash
Venom: The Last Dance marked the final film in Tom Hardy’s Venom franchise. The latest entry in Sony’s Spider-Man universe introduced one of Marvel Comics’ most dangerous villains, Knull. The character is the creator of the symbiotes, and the mere mention of Knull’s name caused fear in Venom. At SSU, Knull tries to escape the prison where the symbiotes have placed him, but he can only do so with a special key – a Codex. When a symbiote brings its host back to life, a Codex is formed. If Spider-Man died and the symbiote resurrected him, Knull would know.
Knull tried to obtain Venom’s Codexbut as the symbiote died at the end of Venom: The Last Dancethe villain remained trapped in his prison. However, Knull apparently isn’t expected to remain imprisoned much longer. Venom: The Last DanceThe mid-credits scene brought Knull back after Venom’s death. While still imprisoned, Knull promised that he would be free, and without Venom to protect the universe, the King in Black would bring destruction to all. If Avengers: Judgment Day ends with Doctor Doom killing Spider-Man and the symbiote resurrecting him, so Knull could appear in Spider-Man 4.
MCU Theory: Eddie Brock and Knull are attracted to the MCU’s Spider-Man 4
Venom and Spider-Man have yet to meet
Despite Spider-Man: No Way HomeWith the ending teasing a street-level sequel, all signs point to another multiversal story for the MCU Spider-Man 4. A new Marvel theory suggests that both Knull and Eddie Brock could have known about Peter Parker’s possible death and resurrection in Avengers: Judgment Day and be part Spider-Man 4 for two completely different purposes. Knull could be after the Codex and somehow be freed to become a physical threat to Spider-Man and Venom rather than just a shadowy figure. As for Eddie, he could connect with the symbiote piece in the MCU, leading to Venom’s return.

There are some factors that strengthen the theory. First is the fact that Knull’s future was brought about by Venom: The Last Dancedirector. Kelly Marcel said the film was “just the introduction to Knull.” Fans have long wanted to see Hardy’s Venom and Holland’s Spider-Man meet, and Tom Hardy recently said he would like to fight Spider-Man in a film. Finally, a press release from Sony Japan ( via The direct) teased the possibility of the two Marvel characters teaming up, as the Spider-Man 4 press release directly mentioned Tom Hardy. Check out Sony Japan’s press release below:
“Tom Holland, who plays Peter, has already given the story his stamp of approval! “This will be a real film that fans can respect!” Is Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie in the ‘Venom’ series, ready to participate?”
Why it makes sense for Spider-Man 4 to be a multiverse story
The MCU’s Streetwise Spider-Man Stories Can Wait
Spider-Man: No Way Home became the most successful Spider-Man film of all time. As such, it would make sense to continue on the path that led to the film becoming so beloved. Fans want to see the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, which will likely only happen while the MCU’s Multiverse Saga is still ongoing. As Tom Holland Spider-Man 4 is the only Spider-Man solo film that can meet that key requirement, a street-level Spider-Man story can hope for another major multiverse event to happen while it still can.
Based on how Spider-Man 4 is the only MCU film confirmed for release between the next two Avengers films, it should feature connective tissue with Avengers: Judgment Day. The Multiverse Saga also offers a last chance for Tom Hardy’s Venom to finally meet Tom Holland’s Spider-Manand Venom: The Last Dance create the perfect villain for this team in the form of Knull. As such, many elements were created to make Spider-Man 4 one of the MCU’s biggest multiverse events, possibly rivaling the scope of Avengers: Judgment Day and Avengers: Secret Wars.
