Warning! Spoilers ahead for Sinester Sons #6!As someone who has read Green Lantern And Superman Comics for the better part of its life, I beg DC not to get rid of the newest additions to their mythos. The mini series Evil sons has finished and the fate of its central characters hangs in the balance.

In recent months I have been keeping up with Lor-Zod and the new Sinson’s adventures. Two kids grappling with the legacies of their villainous fathers. It was a solid premise for a series. But now Evil sons has come to an end and I’m afraid we won’t be seeing much of these two again, which would be a huge mistake.

Evil sons Finally concluded with one hell of a fight

The final issue of Evil sons Comes from Peter J. Tomasi, Vasco Georgiev, Tamra Bonvillain and Rob Leigh and picks up right after the last issue. Korg, alias Sinson, and Lor-Zod, the son of General Zod are accompanied to a workplace on New Korugar To assist in the cleanup of the recently exploded Sinestro Corp power battery. Sinson asks for a moment of Sinestro’s time and the two walk off to a private area where the young man finally confronts his possible father (with a gun, no less).

Sinestro watches as Lor-Zod and Sinson fight, smiling at the young Korugarian’s fighting prowess…

Sinson unleashes a barrage of shots to steal some of Sinestro’s blood and prove their familial connection. But the new Red Lantern is simply not impressed. After a conversation between the potential father and son goes south, Sinestro touches the boy and tells him that even if they are family, Sinestro doesn’t matter to him. Thankfully, Lor-Zod comes to the aid of his frenemy and defeats Sinestro with heat vision. Sinson, however, is not grateful, and when Lor-Zod attacks Sinestro, Sinson suffers so badly, He manages to use the Red Lantern energy.

Sinestro watches Lor-Zod and Sinson fight, smirking at the young Korugarian’s fighting prowess and noting that his experiment has succeeded. Sinestro interrupts the fight and informs the boys that he wanted to see if Sinson could access the emotional spectrum and control it. Satisfied that Sinson did, Sinestro leaves the planet to pursue the man who destroyed the main power battery, leaving Lor-Zod and Sinson in charge of defending New Korugar. Sinestro leaves And the evil sons are preparing for the next chapter of their lives.

Lor-Zod and Sinson have been through so much…that can’t be it!

Close of two of DC's "Evil sons" Flying into action, from the cover of the first issue of their miniseries.

The seeds for Evil Sons were planted late last year and began with a four-part story in the backups of Green Lantern. “Wayward Son” introduces Korg as an orphan who has nothing to his name other than some gear and the unwavering belief that Sinestro is his father. But after years of stealing credits for his creepy caretaker Nagaf, Korg rebels and becomes determined to find Sinestro. Elsewhere in the DC Universe, Lor-Zod was on New Condor until the first issue of Kneel before Zod Saw General Zad drives his son to the stars to question him.

“Wayward Sun” can be read in Green Lantern #4-7 (2024)!

After a couple of months of teasing, Lor-Zod and Korg finally crossed paths in their own story, Evil sons. I’ll admit, even I was skeptical that a book featuring the son of General Zod and a brand new character like Korg would be entertaining. But as a fan of Tomasi’s work on Super sonsI had to give this one a fair shot. I’m glad I did because once the two collided, It strongly reminded me of the rough friendship Robin and Superboy used to share.

The two first meet when Korg attempts to steal Lor-Zod’s ship, only to be caught in the act by the young Kryptonian. But before they can settle their differences, the ship is consumed by a space whale. Inside the creature, they meet a space traveler named Major Tom and are attacked by a band of space pirates to kill the whale. But after some issues, help finally comes for the boys in the form of The man Korg has been searching for his entire life: Sinestro.

There is a lot that can still be done with Evil sons

One of the best things about the DC Universe is its legacy characters. We see them with heroes all the time and have watched families develop and grow over the past few decades. But what set Sinister Sons apart was the focus on being a villain’s legacy and how that impacts those legacies differently. Lor-Zod wanted to step out of his father’s shadow and become his own person While Sinson sounded to Sinestro’s imageShaping his entire world around who Sinson believed him to be.

… These characters expand two iconic villains from Green Lantern and Superman’s world.

It was a great comic, but unfortunately, Evil Sons #6 is the last issue and with Peter J. Tomasi’s exclusive deal at Ghost Machine, I’m not sure if he’ll ever do more. answered, The final issue does promise that the two will show up in Green LanternWhich is better than nothing because there are a lot of questions that are still unanswered. What will become of the kids who run the defense of New Korugar? Was Lor-Zod ever going to join forces with General Zod? And most importantly, is Sinestro Sinson’s father?

While I’m bummed about the book’s cancellation, I get it. Not every comic will draw enough sales to warrant ongoing status. But I think there is something special here with Evil sons. Not because watching Sinson and Lor-Zod clash is entertaining (which it is), but because the characters expand on two iconic villains from Green Lantern and Superman’s world. Answered Lor-Zod is not exactly new, however It was a pleasure to read to connect him with Sinestro’s probable son and give them an epic adventure through space..

Keep the legacies of Sinestro and Zod, DC

Evil Sons Cover DC 4

There are thousands of characters in the DC Universe and I know not everyone can get the spotlight. Six issues is more than some older characters have had in years. But still, it would be a shame to dismiss these two completely. Maybe it’s not the right time and place for a book like Sinister Sons, but these characters make a pretty good team. Hopefully, the next time they show up, DC will have found a place to permanently keep the offspring from Superman And Green Lantern Nemeses.

Evil Sons #6 is available now from DC Comics.
