WednesdayNevermore’s boarding school, Nevermore Academy, is full of students with supernatural abilities, but it’s unclear whether normies can attend or if it’s exclusive to the supernatural. At the beginning of Wednesday Season 1, Wednesday, is attending a typical public school. However, she is immediately expelled when she releases live piranhas into the pool to get revenge on the children who bullied her brother. Instead, her parents send her to her own alma mater, Nevermore Academy, which caters to outcasts, freaks, and monsters (and has a murderous Hyde on the loose).
Anywhere else, these children would be the outcasts. But in the town of Jericho, Vermont, where the school is located, the so-called “normies” – people without supernatural powers – are the outsiders. Nevermore’s alumni include werewolves, vampires, mermaids, and gorgons. Wednesday herself is a psychic with the ability to see the past and future of anyone she comes into contact with. Even most of the faculty are monsters with their own supernatural abilities. But is Nevermore Academy just for kids with paranormal gifts or can anyone go there, including normies?
There are no Normie students, but Nevermore does not teach mandatory magic classes
Nevermore isn’t just for supernatural students
There are currently no normal students taking classes at Nevermore Academy, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t if they wanted to. Nevermore does not teach mandatory magic classes that only apply to magic students. Every child who goes there receives a standard education (despite the risk of being torn apart by a monster). This is a little different from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter franchise. Hogwarts is a specialized school for wizards and witches only. She teaches classes in Charms, Potions, and Defense Against the Dark Arts – subjects that would only apply to students with magical abilities.
Aside from the fact that its students include werewolves, vampires, and occasionally Hyde, Nevermore Academy is a fairly typical school that teaches all the usual subjects.
Aside from the fact that its students include werewolves, vampires, and occasionally Hyde, Nevermore Academy is a fairly typical school that teaches all the usual subjects. Although no normies are attending Nevermore now, if they did, they would be taking the same classes they would take anywhere else. Nevermore opens its doors to students of all types. But apparently, When a school offers education to vampires, werewolves, mermaids and gorgons, no one but vampires, werewolves, mermaids and gorgons wants to go there. It would be a pretty volatile environment for a normie.
Marilyn Thornhill was Normie’s only faculty member and taught botanical science
Even most teachers have supernatural powers
Almost the entire staff at Nevermore Academy are monsters. This is probably because, Just like the students who end up at Nevermore, teachers with supernatural abilities would be ostracized and ostracized if they taught anywhere else.. Even the director is a monster. In the first season, Nevermore Academy principal Larissa Weems is a shapeshifter. She is also a former student who was Morticia Addams’ roommate. All the monsters on the team mean that teachers are able to relate to their students on a personal level.
There’s only one normie on the entire school team: Marilyn Thornhill, played by original Wednesday Addams actress Christina Ricci. Mrs. Thornhill is Wednesday and Enid’s dorm momand she is also a botanical science teacher at the school. She’s clearly the only one – she doesn’t fit in with the other teachers or students – which hints at the twist that she’s the series’ big villain (there’s also a wonderfully meta element in Wednesdaythe villain being played by Wednesday herself).
In theory, normies will never be able to attend again, but they would probably have a hard time
In Nevermore, the Normies would be the crazy ones
In theory, normies could attend Nevermore Academy. There are no specific rules that prevent normies from attending Nevermore Academy; It seems like everyone prefers to study elsewhere. Any potential normie student would have difficulty adapting in Never Again. The dynamic that all supernatural students face when they go to other schools – that they’re not like anyone else and struggle to make friends – would be flipped when a normie arrives at Nevermore and mixes in with all the monsters.
After the end of Wednesday In the first season, it would be even harder for a normie to fit in at Nevermore Academy. The only normie teacher the school hired turned out to be the villain who killed the students. If supernatural children were prejudiced against normies before, it will be even worse now. Maybe in Wednesday In Season 2, the show will explore what would happen if a normie decided to enroll in Nevermore.
