Anthony MackieAnnie’s new monster movie continued a dark Rotten Tomatoes trend for the star. The Independent Spirit Award-nominated actor debuted in the 2002 film 8 mileswhich also starred Eminem and Mekhi Phifer. Since then, he’s gone on to a wide variety of projects, though he’s probably best known for playing Sam Wilson, aka Falcon and later Captain America, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This ongoing tenure at the franchise began in 2014 Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Elevation reviews have made Anthony Mackie’s new monster film the star’s fourth film on Rotten Tomatoes since 2021. The negative reception of the film, which is set in a world under siege by monsters that cannot rise above 8,000 feet, comes during a crisis review for the star. Although he had his longest streak of Fresh scores between 2016 and 2019, it was followed by four consecutive splats, featuring a new erratic period that saw him earn three rotten scores in as many years ahead of Elevationdebut. Rotten tomatoes has now tabulated an official Tomatometer score for Elevationwhich was directed by George Nolfi and also stars Morena Baccarin, Maddie Hasson, Tony Goldwyn and Danny Boyd Jr. at the time of writing, the score is 53% rotten as aggregated from 15 different critics’ reviews. This falls below the 60% threshold beyond which a film can be considered Fresh.

Anthony MackieHis future roles could very well continue his current up-and-down cycle on Rotten Tomatoes, as he is set to star in the next Captain America: Brave New World and Electrical State. While each Captain America the film has been certified Fresh so far, Electrical State is a Netflix film directed by the Russo Brothers, whose most recent collaboration with the streamer, The Gray Manwon a rotten 45%. Unless both films win over critics, It seems unlikely he’ll start a new Fresh streak anytime soon.
