Animal Crossing: New Horizonsdespite being the best seller Animal crossing game of all time, still lacks important characters and features from previous games in the series. Among the missing features is Katie, a special adorable feline villager who always needs help to reunite with her mother Kaitlin. Katie has been so important on the series that she has even appeared in several Super Smash Bros. titles, most recently as a spirit alongside his mother in End.
Katie is one of the cutest special villagers in the series, with her adorable brown bangs, rosy cheeks, and blue denim dress. Although she initially started out as a crybaby child, Katie has grown up playing games and become an independent traveler who enjoys visiting new cities. Despite New Horizons almost completely ignoring its existence, the next Animal crossing the game should add Katie back, especially as a full-time villager.
Katie has a long history in Animal Crossing
The cutest cat since 2005
In more than 20 years of history Animal crossingKatie has been around almost since the beginning. The cute yellow kitten first appeared in Animal Crossing: Wild Worldwhere she becomes separated from her mother Kaitlin and asks the player for help finding her. As Katie is a child, she quickly falls behind the player, stumbles and constantly cries. After the player reunites her with Kaitlin, they will receive a gift in the mail as a thank you. In the next game, City peopleKatie acts the same way and loses her mother, but she grows up in time New Leaf.
Katie appears in New Leaf as a solo traveler who asks the player for help choosing a city for her next trip. Sadly, This is Katie's last mainline appearance Animal crossing game as a full NPC. In Pocket CampKatie made a few guest appearances hosting a garden party and could be seen interacting with her special swing. Her time in New Horizons was even more limited, as she was completely ignored when the game was released, with a poster featuring her added in update 2.0 in late 2021, which came bundled with the Happy Home Paradise DLC. She can be invited to coffee at The Roost via her Amiibo card, but that's it.
Katie deserves better
A future game needs to bring her back
New Horizons it lacks a lot of content, especially when it comes to the island that receives visiting NPCs. The game tends to only include NPCs that have some sort of shop or service associated with them, so other special villagers that only provided side quests were left out. Although Katie has always been a special kind of villager, she deserves better.
Its inclusion in several Super Smash Bros. titles as a Animal crossing Easter Egg shows how important she and her mother are to the series' legacybut still New Horizons left her out. It could be that Nintendo wasn't sure about changing her from a special event villager to a regular villager, or maybe the studio simply replaced her with a new cat character, like Animal crossingBeloved villager Raymond rather than bringing back a legacy character.
Players have seen her grow since Wild Worldthen it would make sense to Katie will be upgraded to a full-time villager for players to take to their new town. This would not only help bring back the B.C villagers' personalities, especially if Katie could occasionally mention talking to her mother, but it would be Add one of the cutest legacy characters as an option to see every day. The game to follow Animal Crossing: New Horizons needs to improve its residents, special visitors or not, and Katie should be a priority due to her long history on the series.
