It takes the combined power of Magik and Juggernaut to secure victory, and even amid claims that he could do it alone, Juggernaut was unable to defeat Blob. This is notable for many reasons, but in particular, it is noteworthy given the fact that Marvel has continued to improve the Juggernaut's power level over the years, within continuity, and so this moment also highlights a corresponding increase. on Blob strength. Unintentionally or not, Marvel just made Blob one of the X-the most powerful mutants in the franchise.

Blob has incredible resistance to injury…along with ever-increasing amounts of superhuman strength and the ability to alter his own gravitational field to render himself immobile.

Fred Dukes became a fixture in the Marvel Universe when he joined the first incarnation of Magneto's Brotherhood, but that was just his first of many forays into villainy. He's spent decades opposing the X-Men in some capacity and has had plenty of time to hone the gifts his mutation grants. Blob has incredible resistance to injury thanks to layers of protection granted by his unique physiology, along with ever-increasing amounts of superhuman strength and the ability to alter his own gravitational field to render himself immobile. In all, only strength, even Juggernaut-level strength is rarely enough to overcome Blob.

Juggernaut and Blob are the definition of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. Juggernaut is able to tear down walls with ease, has drawn blood from Hulk with one punch, and has faced every other Marvel heavyweight at some point, surpassing Blob's nearly unparalleled durability proves too much. Considering their fight occurred after Dukes absorbed Cyclops' optic blasts, it was technically necessary for Scott Summers, Juggernaut, and Magik to trade attacks to take him down. Blob's power is so significant that it took almost half of the current X-Men to secure victory. Cain claims that Magia stole it.

Blob's main motivation is often to oppose the X-Men, so it's no surprise that he turns against them in Greymalkin's prison. He never made much of an effort to become one of the “good guys.” His incredible performance against the X-Men proves that he deserves to be taken off the B-list of villains, and he is capable of accomplishing more than just being another face on a team. With the right motivation and direction, Fred Dukes could be a serious problem. Juggernaut unstoppable energy was not enough to defeat Blob, proving once and for all that he is one of the X-Men's most powerful and underestimated threats.

X-Men #9 will be available on December 25, 2025 from Marvel Comics.
