Amy Jo Johnson’s return as Kimberly in Power Rangers wasn’t what I expected after the departure of The Pink Ranger.

Amy Jo Johnson reprized her role as Kimberly in Power Rangers Two years after the original Pink Ranger left the team, the circumstances of her return were not what I expected. Kimberly Hart was one of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. and appeared in all three seasons of the original show. However, Kimberly did not remain on the team until the very end. MMPR 3 when Amy Jo Johnson left the show after the “A Different Shade of Pink” arc. Kimberly was replaced by Katherine Lillard, played by Katherine Sutherland.

Unlike Jason, Zack, and Trini’s departure from the team, Kimberly’s departure was handled very well. Not only were we introduced to Kat a couple of episodes before she became the new Pink Ranger, but Kimberly also had to pass the torch to her successor herself. Kat will continue to create her own legacy as the Pink Ranger in the remaining episodes of the series. MMPR and also in Zeo And Turbo. Although Amy Jo Johnson never returned to Power Rangers TV show, she reprized her role in Turbo: Power Rangers Movie.

Kimberly’s Return to Turbo: The Power Rangers Movie Wasn’t a Ranger

Kimberly and Jason were captured and brainwashed

Kimberly returned to Power Rangers two years after Another Shade of Pink, but not as a Power Ranger. Austin St. John and Amy Jo Johnson repeated their Mighty Morphin the roles of Jason and Kimberlyrespectively for Turbo: Power Rangers Moviealthough none of the characters were Power Rangers by that point. Jason and Kimberly were apparently on vacation together and were kidnapped by Divatox to be used as weapons against the Power Rangers. The original Red and Pink Rangers were brainwashed and forced to fight their friends in the third arc of the film.

While I was incredibly excited to see Kimberly and Jason return, it was strange to have the original Pink Ranger back but not as the Power Ranger. Jason is already back for Zeo a year earlierduring which he became the second Gold Ranger, so I’d really like to see Kimberly’s return lead to something more. However, given that Amy Jo Johnson’s return as Kimberly was supposed to be a one-time event for the film, it made sense for her to not have any Ranger powers. Seeing Kimberly back in action was still a lot of fun.

Kimberly’s other performances after “Turbo” were without Amy Jo Johnson

The original Pink Ranger appeared several times (in costume)

Turbo Technically, the film was not Kimberly’s last appearance in Power Rangers. During the “Legendary Battle” almost every Power Ranger in the franchise up to this point seemed to be helping the Megaforce Rangers. However, most of these Rangers never took their helmets off, with the exception of Jason David Frank as the first Green Ranger. While Legendary Battle had its fair share of inconsistencies, it can be assumed that the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger featured in this crossover episode was Kimberly Hart. Likewise, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers came together in 2019 to help Jason in “Connect to the Grid.”
