Amazing New Star Wars Theory Finally Explains the Mortis Gods and Their True Connection to Anakin Skywalker's Chosen One Prophecy

The prophecy of the Chosen One and the Mortis Gods are two of the greatest mysteries of Star Warsbut this theory connects perfectly Anakin Skywalker and the Mortis Gods, revealing how they are interconnected. The Mortis Gods were introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as powerful Force beings. In fact, they may very well embody the Force itself, as the Son represents the dark side of the Force, the Daughter represents the light side, and the Father represents balance.

Although the Mortis Gods have been mentioned several times in Star Wars films and TV shows, including Star Wars Rebelsits significance was seriously diminished after this Clone Wars bow. However, that could be about to change as they have recently resurfaced on the Star Wars timeline. Node Ahsoka season 1 finale, Baylan Skoll was shown standing on top of statues of the Mortis Gods, suggesting Ahsoka season two may have a direct link to these gods – and may reveal an important connection to Anakin Skywalker/the Chosen One.

Star Wars Never Really Explained What The Chosen One Prophecy Means

The true “balance” in the force has not yet been defined

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace shocked viewers by introducing Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel trilogy not as a dark side Force user or even a teenager teetering on the brink of the dark side, but rather as a lovable, innocent boy, enslaved on Tatooine alongside his mother. Even more shocking, Anakin was revealed as the Chosen One in The phantom menacewhich is exactly why Qui-Gon Jinn was so determined to free him from slavery, bring him to Coruscant, and train him in the Jedi Order.

The exact definition of the Chosen One was unclear.

Even in The phantom menacethe exact definition of the Chosen One was unclear. Qui-Gon indicated that, as the Chosen One, Anakin would "bring balance to the Force", but the meaning of “balance” was left undefined. This question was repeated in Star Wars since. In Claudia Gray's book, Master and Apprenticethe prophecy was finally directly stated. The book explains:

"A Chosen One will come, born of no father, and through him the final balance of the Force will be restored."

While this is at least enlightening in the sense that the actual prophecy was revealed, the meaning of "ultimate balance in the Force" it's not right. It appears that the Jedi also have their own definition – destroy the Sith – but this has not been confirmed as the true definition anywhere in the world. Star Wars canon.

Anakin's encounter with the Mortis gods was clearly linked to the prophecy of the chosen one

The Mortis gods seem to represent balance itself

Although Star Wars has not yet completely defined the balance in the Force, the Mortis Gods may be the best and most objective representation of balance yet. As mentioned, the Son represents the dark side, the sister represents the light, and the Father represents balance. Although the Jedi's definition of balance evidently involves the destruction of the Sith, thereby suppressing, if not outright destroying, the dark side, the Mortis Gods suggest that the dark side must exist for the Force to have balance, but must be kept under control.

The Mortis Gods suggest that the dark side must exist for the Force to have balance, but it must be kept under control.

Arguably, this seems to be a much more logical definition than that of the Jedi. 'Balance' does not suggest that the light side should be the only side of the Force to exist. This makes it even more interesting that Anakin had this encounter with the Mortis Gods in The Clone Wars. With the Jedi, Anakin was told he must destroy the Sith, but the Mortis Gods may have shown him another path.

Why did his father want to recruit Anakin?

Father wanted Anakin to be his replacement

Even more interesting, during the Mortis Gods arc in The Clone WarsFather tried to recruit Anakin to take his place. The Daughter, Son, and Father ended up dying at the end of this arc, raising questions about what this meant for the Force if this trio truly was keeping the Force in balance. No doubt because Father shared these concerns, he expected Anakin to become his replacement. If Anakin had taken his Father's place, he would theoretically be fulfilling the Chosen One's prophecy.

If Anakin had taken his Father's place, he would theoretically be fulfilling the Chosen One's prophecy.

No, he wouldn't have destroyed the Sith, but perhaps that wasn't the true balance after all. It is also notable that in addition to being called Deuses Mortis, they were also called Ones. In the Father's opinion, Anakin's status as the Chosen One could mean he was chosen to join this family.

Was the Father right about the prophecy of the chosen one?

The true nature of the Mortis gods must be revealed

The Father in Mortis absorbs Anakin's lightsaber through his hand in the Clone Wars

Whether Father was right about Anakin and the Chosen One's prophecy really comes down to the true role of the Mortis Gods in Star Warswhich has not yet been fully elucidated. The Mortis Gods may be just one of several groups of powerful Force users, such as the Nightsisters of Dathomir. In this case, it's possible that the Father represents another being who had his own interpretation of 'balance' in the Force and Chosen One prophecy and wanted to force Anakin to conform to that interpretation.

On the other hand, If the Mortis Gods represented balance in the Force and embodied the Force itself, Father was right that Anakin should have taken his place. This would also have prevented Anakin from falling to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader and fulfilling Order 66. Anakin still brought balance in the end, at least based on the Jedi's understanding of the prophecy, but becoming Father's replacement would have been avoided a lot of suffering. Star Wars may have more to say on this subject, and it may be coming Ahsoka 2nd season.

Will Ahsoka Season 2 Reveal The Chosen One's True Nature?

Star Wars may be introducing a major update to the Mortis Gods and the Chosen One prophecy in Ahsoka 2nd season. Ahsoka Season 1 made several references to the Mortis Gods, most notably with Baylan Skoll standing on top of the Mortis Gods' statues in the Season 1 finale. However, even though the show's nature is about Ahsoka Tano, Ahsoka is perfectly positioned to follow the story of the Mortis Gods.

In The Clone WarsAhsoka was killed by the Son, but the Daughter was able to help Anakin transfer what was left of his life force to Ahsoka, saving her life. Since then, the Daughter's convor, Morai, (who some have even theorized could be the Daughter herself) has followed Ahsoka, likely protecting her. This explicit connection between Ahsoka and the Mortis Gods suggests Ahsoka would be the ideal show for Star Wars to further explore these beings.

Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and Baylan Skoll could play the Father, Daughter and Son, respectively.

The most interesting theory about this possibility is that Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and Baylan Skoll could represent the Father, the Daughter and the Son, respectively. Anakin has already been asked to fill that role, and now that he's a Force ghost watching over Ahsoka on Peridea, this could certainly be his future. Clearly, Ahsoka and the Daughter are directly connected, so this would suit her as well. Baylan Skoll, as a dark side Force user on the hunt for the Mortis Gods, would also be a good fit for the Son.

Currently, this remains a theory, but it is certainly a convincing theory. Star Wars made it clear that Ahsoka will explore the Mortis Gods once again. It could, therefore, be in Ahsoka 2nd season that Star Wars reveals the true connection between Anakin Skywalker Prophecy of the Chosen One and the Mortis Gods.
