Notice! This article contains SPOILERS for episode 3 of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.It has long been a running joke among those who know me that I am constantly clowning around for a Din Djarin cameo in various Star Wars It shows, but I really think Star Wars: Skeleton Crew could be intentionally creating the potential for The Mandalorianthe titular hero appears. Skeleton CrewThe timeline of is rooted in The Mandalorian was, with the pirate Nikto Vane, first introduced in The Mandalorian 3rd season, even though it is part of Skeleton CrewIt's cast. Although the TV show's creators have said the story isn't timeline-dependent, that doesn't mean things haven't evolved.
As it stands, Vane wasn't even written Skeleton Crewstory, as the creators said they actually saved the pirate from dying in The Mandalorian third season to absorb you into its story. There have already been some overlapping themes between the two shows because of Vane and the other pirates, making these stories feel uniquely tied to each other in a way that even other “Mandoverse” shows haven't managed. Between this and other elements of the story in Skeleton Crew episode 3, I've officially gone from clowning to theorizing, and here's why.
Is it just a coincidence that Skeleton Crew is set in the Mandalorian era?
These stories are already overlapping
As mentioned above, Skeleton Crew is set in The Mandalorian era, specifically after the events of Season 3. What the creators said about the story not being dependent on the timeline is that it essentially wasn't tied to a specific time period until, after the success of The Mandalorianthey decided to join The Mandalorian producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni to set their story around the same time. This, however, does not mean that they intend to abandon any and all opportunities to connect the two; in fact, it means that they certainly had the freedom to do so.
What's particularly meaningful to me is that the creators were so committed to bringing the pirate Vane to Skeleton Crew. Vane has some personal issues with Din Djarin, once for gunning down his companions outside Nevarro's cantina (and threatening to do the same to him) and again for helping Bo-Katan Kryze and the other Mandalorians take down their captain, Gorian Shard, Corsair. to end his tyrannical conquest of Nevarro's main city. It is reasonable to think that not only would Vane want some revenge, but also that Din would keep tabs on this enemy on the run..
Skeleton Crew is suspiciously close to Hydian Way
Nevarro is located in this hyperspace lane
Speaking of Vane, the hyperspace route he and his fellow pirates were plundering when they attacked Nevarro is known as the Hydian Path, and it's now very close to where Vane's events took place. Skeleton Crew are happening. So far, most Skeleton CrewThe story revolves around Port Borgo, a spaceport inhabited by pirates, smugglers and the like. Port Borgo is located very close to the Hydian Wayas if these pirates and smugglers wanted a quick stop at the spaceport before getting rich on this crowded hyperspace route.
Any threat along the Hydian Path is therefore a threat to this duo, and given the fact that Din and other Mandalorians have successfully revealed a pirate occupation on Nevarro, that planet could be targeted by pirates again.
This, of course, closely links Port Borgo and the other destinations of the TV show's titular crew to other locations along the Hydian Path, including Nevarro. From The Mandalorian At the end of Season 3, Nevarro has essentially become a base for Din Djarin and Grogu, as the two have settled inside a cabin in that world where they can stay between adventures. Any threat along the Hydian Path is therefore a threat to this duo, and given the fact that Din and other Mandalorians have successfully revealed a pirate occupation on Nevarro, that planet could be targeted by pirates again.
Skeleton Crew Episode 3 really made Din Djarin a logical part of this story
This sounds like a job for the Mandalorian…
The biggest reason I'm moving from slapstick to full-on theorizing, though, has everything to do with Skeleton Crew episode 3. This episode sees Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) manage to get him and the four children – Wim, Neel, Fern and KB – out of the Port Borgo brig and take him to his “friend”, Kh'ymm, who can potentially plot your way to Attin. What we learn during this episode, however, is that Jod really isn't who he says he is. Kh'ymm calls him Crimson Jack, and the New Republic is familiar with that identity – in a negative context.
Possible Din Djarin connections come into play in several places in this episode. First, all viewers were alerted by hearing the pirate captain who replaces Jod in his crew, Captain Brutus, angrily demanding that they place a bounty on Jod's head after the former pirate captain flees Port Borgo – destroying parts of him in the process. . Although Din Djarin is no longer a member of the Bounty Hunter's Guild, he is still heavily associated with bounty hunting in the modern era.especially in a story that is set in the TV show's timeline.
The next biggest connection has everything to do with the New Republic. Kh'ymm secretly calls two New Republic guards and their X-wings when Jod, or Crimson Jack, brings the children to meet with her and investigate where Attin might be located. Most of the New Republic Rangers we've seen on screen so far, although these two pilots are new to us, are all stationed at the Adelphi Outpost.where Captain Carson Teva is based. This, of course, means that Din Djarin is also based there, now that he has agreed to secretly work for Teva and his guards.
Din Djarin would certainly be the type of person who would stop at nothing to save children, as evidenced by his rescue of Grogu long ago.
The final layer that really makes me wonder if I'm just clowning around this time is the fact that now the New Republic knows that Crimson Jack is not only on the run, but he also has four children with him – and to them, it appears he has kidnapped those children. Din Djarin would certainly be the type of person who would stop at nothing to save children, as evidenced by his rescue of Grogu long ago. It is also part of their culture and Mandalorian Creed; Saving foundlings is his greatest honor.
Now, I'm not sure if Star Wars I would really put Din Djarin in this show, especially after what happened with The Book of Boba Fettbut it seems like they're actually putting some real potential here for this Mandalorian to appear. The stars seem to be aligning a little too well, although as someone who often clowns around for Din to return to the galaxy, it could simply be me concluding some extremely positive thoughts. I think Skeleton Crew It will still be a fantastic story without Din Djarin, but I certainly don't think I'm just clowning around anymore.
