The end of Arcane is a bittersweet and conclusive ending, but it leaves enough lingering questions that League of Legends‘ tradition might suggest. The interesting thing about Arcaneespecially in Act 3 of Season 2, is the way it sets up various elements of League of Legends although apparently diverging from the timeline. The formal establishment of a multiverse full of parallel dimensions means Arcane could theoretically be just one of many versions of Runeterra, and that could deviate even further from League of Legends tradition.
However, Riot’s suggestion that Arcane is now the canonical story for League of Legends raises more questions about the fate of certain supposedly dead characters. It also sets the stage for many potential returns and can trigger the most important numbers coming into any given number. Arcane spin-offs. Here are some of the biggest lingering questions of Arcanethe end of season 2 and how League of Legends could hint at its potential resolution.

Caitlyn and Vi remain partners
Caitlyn and Vi are heavily implied to still be together League of Legends
ArcaneCaitlyn and Vi’s ending gives a sweet ending with a hint of ambiguity regarding Zaun and Piltover’s future, but League of Legends suggests their romance will remain strong for years to come. Caitlyn and Vi were ArcaneThe main love story of, with the pair going from reluctant allies to committed lovers by the end of the show. The season ends with Vi reaffirming her commitment to Caitlyn, implying that she will continue fighting alongside Caitlyn. This reflects your status quo in League of Legendswhere the two remain partners.
At the time of League of Legendswhich apparently takes place years after the events of ArcaneVi and Jinx are established as partners in the Enforcers. The pair are also increasingly rumored to be in a long-term romancewith dialogue from Vi in the game suggesting that the two have lived together for some time. In an ending full of bittersweet sacrifice for the greater good, the apparent confirmation that Caitlyn and Vi’s romance stands the test of time is a reassuring element of the ending.

Singed’s daughter becomes champion
Orianna Becomes a Quietly Powerful Figure
Singed’s motivations in Arcane were consistently revealed to center on finding a “death cure” that he could use to resurrect his beloved daughter Orianna. Corin Reveck to embrace a dark path, becoming Singed and working alongside the forces of Noxus to take over Piltover and remake the armies of Ambessa in Viktor’s image. Singed successfully escaped the conflict, having apparently found a way to restore Orianna. The season’s final montage includes a scene of Singed and his resurrected daughter who bears a resemblance to those transformed by Viktor.
In League of LegendsOrianna is one of the many champions from Zaun, capable of using mechanical machines for attack and defense. The current League of Legends Canon sees Orianna as a mechanical woman, kept alive by the technological advances designed by Dr. Reveck to keep his daughter alive. Orianna struggles to find ways to regain the emotions she has largely lost. However, she maintains her natural curiosity and love for her father. This makes Orianna an important figure in a future Arcane spin-off with Singed.

Jinx and Warwick almost definitely survived the fall
Arcane Season 2’s final moments even tease how they could have escaped
One of the tragic elements ArcaneThe season 2 finale is the apparent disappearance of Jinx and Warwick, with the former sacrificing herself to save Vi from the latter. However, none of the characters’ bodies can be seen afterwards and Caitlyn ends the season looking at schematics of the Hexgate architecture. suggesting that one or both may have survived unseen, making their way through the building’s air ducts and pipes. This could allow Jinx or Warwick, who would accompany the League of Legends canon.
In League of LegendsJinx and Warwick are alive when the Champions of Runeterra arrive on Summoner’s Rift. This would suggest that the lack of concrete evidence of their deaths in Arcane is a tease of his possible return in the future. The final moments of Arcane I see someone leaving Piltover in an airship, suggesting it is Jinx. This could allow one of the ArcaneOne of the most popular characters to become an audience POV character in exploring other realms. Warwick’s healing abilities also bring him back, albeit in the most savage form he saw in League of Legends.

Viktor and Jayce survive
Tradition suggests they are not fully reconciled
Similar to Jinx and Warwick, Viktor and Jayce’s fates are left somewhat ambiguous at the end of Arcane. After Viktor finally realizes his mistake, Jayce helps him undo his assimilation plan. However, the two are later pulled into the Arcane. It probably didn’t kill them. This could have sent them to another dimension or a potentially bad future, similar to Jayce’s previous adventure through wild magic. However, This also raises the possibility that the two will eventually return to Runeterra from Arcanealthough not necessarily together.
In League of Legends In the story, Viktor and Jayce are still alive and are playable characters, although opposite each other rather than united as they were at the end of Arcane. Notably, Victor of League of Legends still believes in his ideal that emotion is the cause of conflict and still seeks to convert people into feelingless forms. However, he becomes more adamant that these transformations must be chosen voluntarily, making him a less overtly villainous force. This kind of philosophical divide could keep Jayce and Viktor at odds, even if they eventually return to Runeterra.

Heimerdinger is probably alive
Yordles are more powerful than Arcane Already revealed
Heimerdinger’s apparent death in Season 2’s “Pretend Like Its The First Time” was a tragic twist, ensuring that Ekko returned home in time to help save Zaun and Piltover from Viktor’s machinations. Apparently overwhelmed with the mystical powers associated with a rift, Heimerdinger disappeared after ensuring that Ekko could return to Zaun. However, Heimerdinger may not be as dead as he initially appears. Heimerdinger could have potentially been transported to another timelineor even sent home thanks to the way your race operates within League of Legends tradition.
Heimerdinger’s apparent death may have been tragic, but the world of Runeterra has plenty of easy ways to bring the character back to the past.
In League of Legends According to tradition, Heimerdinger is one of the Yordles, a kind of spirit that chooses its physical forms. Due to their inherent nature, Yordles do not age (explaining how the genie can be so ancient) and do not die in the same way as most people. Instead, if their bodies are destroyed, then the Yordles will be able to reconstitute themselves in their home kingdom of Bandle City. Heimerdinger’s apparent death may have been tragic, but the world of Runeterra has plenty of easy ways to bring the character back to the past.

The Raven creates more Noxus stories
An ominous provocation ArcaneThe film’s final moments hint at a major Noxus character
One of the most intriguing hidden teasers included in ArcaneThe ending of is the presence of a six-eyed raven that flies to the remains of Jayce’s hammer in Piltover and inspects it. The raven is later seen flying alongside several ships transporting Mel back to Noxus, suggesting the bird is connected to that nation in some way. Clues about the bird’s appearance suggest this is the case, and that it could be setting up the appearance of other rivals for power in Noxus.
Given the raven’s design, it’s likely that the bird is linked to Raum, an ancient demonic force that has been hidden in Noxus for centuries. At this point in the League of Legends according to tradition, Raum is looking for a suitable host on the material plane. The demon eventually makes a pact with Swain, a ruthless general in Noxus who (like Ambessa before him) developed a rivalry with the Black Rose. However, Swain was able to outwit the demon, gaining access to his powers while maintaining his own ambitions and personal freedoms. This provocation may suggest ArcaneThe future will feature Swain.

The Black Rose is far from over
Mel appears to be going to war with Black Rose
Mel’s arc in Arcane season 2 revealed her connections to the Black Rose, a secret conspiracy of mystical figures within Noxus. Despite using her power to unlock her full magical potential and overpower Ambessa, Mel ultimately turned against them and banished the Black Rose’s mysterious handler from the final battle. However, this is probably far from enough to destroy the Black Rose once and for all, especially if the mysterious Illusory Enchantress is someone like LeBlanc. Mel even ends the season apparently returning to Noxusapparently created to combat the Black Rose’s influence in the region.
The Black Rose is still present in League of Legends canon. Although they remain a secret force that tends to remain in the shadows while manipulating emperors and armies, Mel’s efforts to combat them may draw them further into the light, starting new struggles with the Black Rose. Other jokers who hold a grudge against them (like the assassin Katarina, who eventually finds a place at Swain’s side) could influence future conflicts. The tradition surrounding the Black Rose is deep and ancient, and the ambiguity they present in Arcane could elevate them to a serious group going forward.

Mel’s control of Noxus will face serious challenges
A spin-off could follow Mel’s attempts to unify
One of the interesting wrinkles in the possibility of Arcane being canonical with League of Legends is the apparent death of Ambessa, as she became the latest addition to the game. This suggests that the game is not necessarily canon with Arcaneor that she will return in some form in the future to torment the world even more. However, his death and Mel’s rise will leave a power vacuum that other characters may try to use to their advantage. This includes Swain, who seeks to use the mystical power he stole from Raum to transform Noxus into a true empire.
Other true believers in Noxian principles, like Darius, might see his ascension as worthy of being challenged and tested. Ancient forces like Raum and Mordekaiser could try to remake the kingdom in their image, forcing Mel to fight more magical beings. Noxus’ attempts to expand may bring them into conflict with other regions of Runeterrasuch as the mystical kingdom of Ionia or the rigid kingdom of Demencia, its long-time rivals in League of Legends. Noxus makes perfect sense as a prospective future setting Arcane spin-offs, especially in light of Ambessa’s apparent passing.

Hextech and Wild Magic are still in play
Runeterra is full of magic beyond the scope of Arcane
Although Hextech has been resisted and the potentially cataclysmic repercussions of its use have been combated in Arcanethe existence of wild magic in Runeterra poses a greater threat in the future. There’s also the fact that, although Hextech was primarily a creation of Piltover and Zaun, the construction of other Hexgates around the world could have spread the technology even further across Runeterra. Coupled with the numerous ancient mystical elements at play in the world (as well as confirmation that some people like Mel are born with magical potential), Runeterra’s future seems destined to be directed through magic.
For the period of League of LegendsHextech and magic are seen as common elements in the world. Many figures across the landscape have found ways to openly use their abilities in service of their nations and personal goals, setting the stage for countless battles across the world. Wild Magic in particular, especially magic linked to certain ancient beings that exist in places like the Void or the Shadow Isles, could justify an alliance between enemies for the greater good.. This could be the key to connecting Arcane to any possible spin-offs, tying them together into an overarching story.

League Of Legends has a complete multiverse
Arcane‘s Reality Hop teases an entire multiverse of possibilities
The multiverse of League of Legends was expanded on the game’s tie-in material through the use of certain skins and cinematics, such as the science fiction world “Odyssey”. These alternative timelines influence Arcane during Season 2 Episode 7, “Pretend Like Its The First Time”, which features a parallel reality without Hextech and a bad future where Viktor’s efforts to reshape Runeterra succeed. This could potentially be used to separate Runeterra from Arcane of the specific tradition of League of Legendsor leave open space for characters to jump between realities, just like Ekko and Heimerdinger did.
This could be how characters like Viktor, Jayce, and Heimdinger could return after their apparent disappearance. This could even be how seemingly dead characters like Ambessa could return in future spin-offs, introducing variants of the character into Summoner’s Rift. ArcaneThe ending leaves many lingering questions, but with plenty of room to build the world portrayed in League of Legends.
