Notice! Spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6, part 2 ahead!Sekai Taikai is the biggest challenge Cobra KaiThe characters have already faced each other, with each round presenting new odds that are impossible to overcome. This global karate tournament has been the goal since Cobra Kai Season 5, and the event itself is finally an on-screen reality in Season 6, Part 2. Miyagi-Do arrived in Barcelona for the competition at the end of Season 6, Part 1, and things picked up quickly in the following episodes as the administrator from Sekai Taikai announced how things would proceed.
Previous karate tournaments in Cobra Kai and The Karate Kid were practically the same. A wide variety of wrestlers hit the mat in one-on-one matches, and the top three spots advance to the next tournament bracket. The familiar All-Valley Tournament introduced weapons and skill matches, which were also relatively simple. Sekai Taikai does things a little differently. The tournament begins with 16 dojos qualifying at the start of Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 who must face a variety of events to earn points or face elimination. At the end, The team left standing with the most points will be the winner.
First Team Points Event – Captain’s War
Protect the captain at all costs
The first Sekai Taikai events allow teams to accumulate as many points as possible. There is no elimination in these first roundsbut the more points a dojo gets, the less likely it is to be eliminated when the time comes. The first Sekai Taikai event is called “Captain’s War.” All six members from four dojos hit the mat at the same time for a no-holds-barred brawl. If a fighter hits the mat, he is out and must leave his teammates to continue fighting. However, if one of the two team captains hits the mat, the entire team is out.
While fighters can advance and eliminate as many opponents as possible during this first Sekai Taikai event, it’s smarter to approach it with some strategy. THE The team captain must be protected, but as the strongest fighters on the team, they cannot simply stay behind and not participate in the fight. Captains who finish as the last survivors earn points that will be carried forward to the next event.
Second Team Points Event – Sudden Death Matches
A variety of traditional one-point matches
Cobra Kai season 6, part 2, episode 7 began with the second points event already underway, so There were never any specific instructions as to what this phase of Sekai Taikai entailed.. However, it appeared to be a variety of traditional tournament-style matches, although instead of a typical three-points-to-win format, each match was a sudden death. A fighter could earn his unique points by hitting his opponent, and the next fight would begin.
During this stage of Sekai Taikai, different types of fights were held. Some were simple fights, one on one, hand to hand.while others involved bo employees. At one point, Miguel is seen fighting two opponents at the same time. It is possible that different teams were able to nominate the member they considered best equipped for that match. Miguel has proven to be the best at Miyagi-Do in taking down multiple opponents, while Sam has more experience with weapons.
Third Team Points Event – The Platform (1v1)
Don’t fall off the track platform
The third and final one-off event involved one-on-one matches on top of a long, narrow platform. This time, points are not awarded when a wrestler hits his opponent – instead, he must make him fall off the platform. Victory will earn the fighter points, but how many depends on how long it took to take down the enemy. A quick victory means the ideal number of points, so taking too long would only result in a few. For this reason, speeding up the match during this event is very important, as this is the final points event before the Sekai Taikai knockout rounds.
This is the final points event before the Sekai Taikai knockout rounds.
First Team Elimination Event – The Platform (Teams)
The stakes are even higher
The first elimination event Cobra KaiSekai Taikai takes the previous event’s platforming to the next level. This time, a much larger platform is suspended above the groundand two members from each dojo face off against two members from the other. If someone gets knocked down, they’re out. However, another teammate can step onto the platform to replace them. It is important that those who are not actively fighting pay close attention and be ready to get on the platform as quickly as possible so that the remaining teammate is not left fighting alone.
Point rankings from previous Sekai Taikai matches are important here. In the first round, the first placed team will face the 16th placed team on the platform. In the second round, the second-placed team will face the 15th – and so on. There are therefore eight matches in total in this round, and once each member of a team is knocked off the platform, that dojo will be eliminated. Following the “Platform“team event, eight dojos advance to second team elimination event.
Second Team Elimination Event – All Dojo Tag-Team Competition
Requires strategy, teamwork and trust
The second knockout round would again reduce the number of participating dojos by half, with four teams advancing to the semi-finals”Tournament of Champions” round. To avoid being one of the four sent home, a dojo must go through a tag team tournament style competition with the fewest losses. To begin, a member from two dojos faces off in a circular arena while their remaining 10 teammates wait outside the ring (5 from each dojo). The first team to three points (three hits) wins.
The problem here is that a fighter can hire another teammate to switch places with him.
The problem here is that a fighter can hire another teammate to switch places with him. The match will always be one-on-one and the fight will be continuous, but teams may turn to someone else when they are too tired to continue or if they feel that their teammate would be better equipped against that specific opponent. Wrestlers may also attempt to prevent their opponent from taking down another teammate.thus ensuring there is no time to recover or switch to a stronger fighter. The four teams with the most wins in this round advance to Cobra Kai semi-final round of season 6.
Semifinal – Tournament of Champions
Captains vs. Captains
The semi-final round of Sekai Taikai involves only the eight captains from the four remaining dojos. It is a televised event, where these champion fighters face each other in one-on-one fights. Each match consists of three two-minute roundsduring which a fighter can accumulate unlimited points. One point is earned for a traditional strike, 10 points are earned for knocking an opponent to the ground, and a knockout gives the fighter 20 points.
At the end of these matches, it is assumed that the two dojos with the highest number of points will advance to the Sekai Taikai final. However, things didn’t get that far Cobra Kai season 6, part 2. Tensions quickly grew and a huge fight broke out when one of the previously eliminated dojos attacked. Whether the semi-final will continue and the final event will be revealed depends on Cobra Kai Season 6, part 3 – the big finale of the Netflix series.
