All costumes the same in Pokémon GO (November 2024)

Ditto remains one of the hardest Pokémon to find and capture Pokemon GObut knowing his current disguises is vital if you want to add him to your collection. Although most other Pokémon appear on your map in Pokemon GO like themselves, Ditto disguises itself as several other types. The various Ditto Pokémon will change disguises regularly, and while they won’t be updated as frequently as Team GO Rocket’s leader teams, they will change every few months.

Ditto isn’t the strongest in battle, but it’s one of the hardest Generation One Pokémon to collect, so it’s worth tracking down. You won’t know until you catch a Pokémon whether it’s a Ditto or not. If it is a Ditto, when capturing the disguised Pokémon, you will get a pop-up message saying ‘Oh,’ before it returns to its original state. However, due to the nature of how to capture a Ditto, its successful capture rate is much rarer than any other Pokémon.

11 costumes that could be the same

All Ditto costumes for October 2024 in Pokémon GO

If you’ve been tracking Ditto over the past few months, the good news is that you’ll know which disguises to look for. For early November 2024, the list of 11 Pokémon he can disguise has not changed since October 2024. Ditto continues to hide behind four Generation One Pokémon: Oddish, Koffing, Goldeen and Rhyhorn. While they don’t always appear regularly due to in-game events, Koffing and Oddish are common, so they should appear more than many other possible disguises.

While catching Zorua has many similarities, he will appear in the form of his Pokémon friend, where Ditto will appear as one of the 11 disguises above.

Additionally, there are seven other Pokémon that can be disguised as Ditto from various generations. These are Stufful, Spinarak, Bergmite, Gothita, Solosis, Numel and Bidoof. Ditto is currently not available in the new Max Battles format, but more Pokémon are added each month.

While there’s no way to confirm whether a Pokémon is itself or a Ditto until you catch it, there are a few things that could indicate it. Firstly, Ditto has a very low CP, so if you find one of the 11 Pokémon above with a CP below normal, worth getting. Secondly, Ditto has a lower catch rate than most of the Pokémon above, so if you’re having trouble catching one, it’s is it worth using Golden Berry and Ultra Balls to increase the chances of success.

How to increase the chances of finding the same

Incense and Lures can increase your spawns

Because you can’t see it on the map, Ditto is much more difficult to catch than other Pokémon, but there are several ways to increase your chances of encountering them. There are three tools in Pokemon GO which increase Pokémon spawn rates. Incense and Daily Incense increase the number of spawns directly around you for a set period of time. While placing a Lure on a PokéStop will also have the same effect, increasing the number of Pokémon that appear around it for you and other players.

Lures, Incense, and Daily Incense do not increase the chances of any individual Pokémon being a disguised Ditto, but they do increase the overall number of spawns near your area.

From my experiences trying to find Ditto, the best strategy is to capture any of the 11 Pokémon he can disguise every time you see one. This also gives you the opportunity to capture the even rarer Shiny Ditto. Appearing in a very different light blue form, Shiny Ditto has an expected rate of being encountered once every 64 encounters you have with Pokémon. Finally, during certain in-game events there has been an increase in the appearance of Ditto, but there are currently none of these occurring in Pokemon GO.

There’s no way to further increase your chances of catching a Ditto in November 2024, but by being aware of the 11 different types of Pokémon that could be a Ditto in disguise, you’ll have the best chance of adding one to your Pokédex in Pokemon GO.
