james gunn Creature Commands
features several actors with whom the writer and director has collaborated. Gunn is a prolific and talented Hollywood director with a unique sense of humor. This led Gunn to produce several films that stand out for their style and tone of voice. And, as a director who has a clear vision for his work, it makes sense that he enjoys working with familiar actors with whom he builds relationships.
This is very common for popular directors, who recruit a core team of actors they can trust and then expand that circle to include new actors in each new project. Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese and many others have frequent collaborators, and starting with that relationship already formed undoubtedly makes the project flow better. Now, as Gunn begins building the renovated UDC
makes sense for the director will turn to trusted actors to help him launch the franchiseand that's exactly what he did with Creature Commands.

And while both projects were also led by James Gunn, this actually marks Agee's sixth collaboration with Gunn. Before taking on the role of Economos, Agee was cast in a minor comedy role in Super in 2010. Clearly, he impressed Gunn, who tapped Agee to play a slightly more developed role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2and again in Bright burn. Now, Agee has found a consistent opportunity to play Economos in DCU.

Maria Bakalova plays a key role in Creature Commands as Princess Ilana. Ilana feels an intense attraction to Rick Flag Sr., but her main responsibility is to her country, Pokolistan. Bakalova's talents as a voice actress it also meant that she was able to play an additional role in the series, as the Crone seen briefly in Creature Commands.
Bakalova's talent as a voice actor also made her a useful collaborator for Gunn while he was working on the MCU, when he cast her as the voice of Cosmo the Dog. Cosmo joins the team in the 2022 Holiday Special and then continues to work with the Guardians in GotG Vol. 3. As a professional voice actor, Bakalova will likely be called upon for many more roles in animated shows as the DCU continues to expand.

Sean Gunn is a multi-talented actor whose career has seen him be a motion capture actor, voice actor, and on-screen actor in various roles. In Creature Commandshe puts these skills to good use when playing the dual roles of two of the main commandos, Weasel and GI Robot. Although one of these roles does not necessarily speak, both are great opportunities for the actor to show his skills.
While Gunn has clearly found actors he enjoys working with in his work, Sean is actually James' brother. As a result, the pair had a relationship long before they worked professionally in film. However, with both brothers displaying unique skills and being drawn to different aspects of the filmmaking process, they became excited. Initially, when James Gunn was starting out as a writer, he also did some work on screen alongside his brotherbefore taking on a more permanent role behind the camera and also tackling directing. And along the way, his brother Sean was frequently recruited to take on complex roles.

Like Steve Agee, Viola Davis was given the opportunity to reprise her role of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker as Amanda Waller. This tough head of a secret government organization has loose morals and a quick trigger finger, and she feels that the ends often justify the means. However, this has gotten her into trouble several times due to her reckless behavior and unusual collaborators, which include criminals, murderers, and monsters.
Viola Davis was given the opportunity to reprise her role as The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker as Amanda Waller.
However, Viola Davis is also one of the most recent collaborators to join Gunn's team. Despite having participated in three projects with the writer and director, Davis only played one character. However, it is very likely that the pair will work well together, judging by the results of their work and their enthusiasm to work on projects with each other again. Davis has a future in the DCUand probably if Gunn starts working on projects other than the DCU as well.

Finally, Peter Serafinowicz was cast in Creature Commands to play Victor Frankenstein. Victor is a brilliant and twisted scientist who is able to grant life to the dead by piecing together body parts to form a monster. However, Frankenstein's first monster became incredibly lonely and begged his master to make him a wife who was like him. Serafinowicz does a great job playing Victor, as he tries to balance his monster's intense emotions, and train his new creature, the Bride, to live as normally as possible for a reanimated corpse.

However, this wasn't the first time Gunn and Serafinowicz worked together. Previously, Gunn partnered with the talented actor while working under the MCU banner, in Guardians of the Galaxy. Serafinowicz plays a high-ranking Nova Corps agent on the planet Xandar. Unfortunately, he was killed in the Battle of Xandar, giving up his life to protect his home and aiding in the defeat of Ronan the Accuser. While your Creature Commands the role is smaller, there are many more opportunities for the actor to appear in the DCU and in future projects, alongside James Gunn.

Flula Borg gets a tiny role in Creature Commandsbecoming his third part in a James Gunn project. He voices a German Oberst in the third episode of the seriesoperating as a Nazi fighter for GI Robot and the rest of Easy Company during World War II. Flula Borg gets approximately one line of dialogue in his role before he is brutally killed by GI Robot, who is gleefully killing all the Nazis around.
Flula Borg is quickly becoming an actor who will likely return for multiple James Gunn projects in the future, no matter the size of the role. Gunn's first film he was in was The Suicide Squad in 2021, playing Javelin, one of the members of Task Force X. Like most members of that team, he was quickly killed during the opening battle scene. Flula Borg then had a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special as a bartender who serves Mantis and Drax when they go to Earth.

Despite only appearing in episode 3 of Creature Commands, Michael Rooker's role as Sam is quite memorable, allowing for fascinating character development for GI Robot. A World War II fanatic, Sam purchases the decommissioned GI Robot, restoring it and giving it a family once again. Unfortunately, Sam turns out to be a white supremacist and GI Robot kills him and everyone else at the meeting they go to.
Michael Rooker has a long history of participation in James Gunn's projects, including his long-running role as Yondu in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. In fact, Rooker was in James Gunn's 2006 directorial debut with the horror film Swipe. Since then, Rooker has continued to play various roles in Gunn's films. Even though Michael Rooker has already appeared in Creature Commandsit's likely he'll play another character at some point in the DCU.

Linda Cardellini gets a decent-sized role in Creature Commandsepisode 4, “Chasing Squirrels.” She plays Elizabeth Bates, Weasel's lawyer and the only one who believes he is innocent. despite being found guilty of killing several children. Cardellini's character appears to be the only one who thinks of Weasel as a human being, repeatedly calling him John and trying to prove his innocence. She visits him in Belle Reve, upset to learn he was on a mission.
Linda Cardellini's appearance in Creature Commands brings his total work on James Gunn projects to three, following Super in 2010 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Your role in Super is relatively small, but her voice and motion capture work in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is commendable, portraying Rocket's otter friend Lylla during the film's emotionally heavy flashbacks. With Cardellini continuing to appear in James Gunn's films, it's possible she could have another role in the DCU at some point in addition to appearing in Creature Commands.
