Bruce Banner Hulk It's the strongest and greenest there is, but did you know that the Jade Giant comes in a variety of other colors? Since being introduced in 1962, the Hulk has adopted many different forms, including gray, blue, red, and black. In fact, Bruce Banner's green form wasn't even the first.
Here are the 11 different colors of the Hulk in Marvel lore. We're focusing on the moments where Bruce Banner's Hulk, in particular, took on a new hue. we will also share when there is another Hulk who created a certain coloras General 'Thunderbolt' Ross' Red Hulk, coming to the MCU soon in Captain America: Brave New Worldplayed by Harrison Ford.

Green Hulk (classic Bruce Banner form)
Most Hulks are green because of their connection to an Old God
The default color of the 'Hulk', most gamma mutants are green, including Bruce Banner's Hulk, She-Hulk, the Abomination, Amadeus Cho's Brawn, and more. Although several theories as to why have been advanced throughout Marvel history (such as Hulk's skin being a large bruise), Al Ewing and Joe Bennett Immortal Hulk revealed that the Hulks are green because they draw energy from Marvel's ultimate villain - a supernatural god called One-Below-All.
The One-Below-All - and its home, the Place Below - are the source of gamma energy, which is a scientific and mystical substance. This realm is where Hulks gain the extra mass needed for their musclesbut the connection also allows the One-Below-All to influence and possess them in their goal of destroying all reality. Immortal Hulk concluded by revealing that the One-Below-All is the destructive alternate persona - or 'Hulk' - of Marvel's God, the One-Above-All.
Gamma radiation unlocks the hidden identities we suppress, transforming those it transforms "metaphorical people." Due to this, Bruce Banner actually has several Hulk forms, with their green identities, including the original savage Hulk, his more intelligent personality Doc Green, the warrior Green Scar, and the apocalyptic Devil Hulk. However, one of Bruce's most prominent personalities has always had a different tone...

Gray Hulk (aka Mister Fixit)
Stan Lee's original vision for the Hulk
Although the Hulk's green skin is iconic today, Stan Lee originally intended the Green Goliath to be gray, and the character was on first impressions. However, problems with ink supplies forced Marvel to make the Hulk green, with later copies of his first appearance recolored to match. However, this detail contributed to Bruce Banner's most famous alternate Hulk personality - a morally flexible gangster named Joe Fixit.
Joe is the result of Bruce Banner's childhood taste for gangster films and briefly worked as a Las Vegas enforcer. Joe is not as strong as the green Savage Hulk, but he is significantly smarter. Although he's a cunning operator who helps Bruce survive on the run from criminal schemes, he has a heart of gold buried deep inside.
In modern comics, the most famous gray Hulk is Weapon H - a superhero created by infusing mercenary Clayton Cortez with DNA from Hulk and Wolverine. This gave Clayton a number of unusual powers, including the ability to fire his claws as projectiles.
It seems that Something in Wolverine's DNA causes Hulk to turn grayas this was also the case when Wolverine gained Hulk powers in 2015 Civil War Volume 2as shown in the last image in the image gallery above.

Red Hulk (Thunderbolt Ross's gamma form)
Although Ross is more famous, Bruce also blushed
Although Hulk is naturally green thanks to the gamma energy in his cells, add in the form of radiation known as 'cosmic rays' turns it redgranting new powers in the process. Cosmic rays are the energy that created the Fantastic Four and have long been the Hulk's only true weakness, capable of melting his body to death. However, in Immortal Hulk #49the Joe Fixit persona absorbed cosmic rays, taking the form of the Red Hulk who merged with the Savage Hulk, removing this vulnerability.
Of course, By far the most famous Red Hulk is the Hulk's nemesis, General Thaddeus E. "Thunderbolt" Ross. Ross was experimented on by super-intelligent villains known as Intelligencia, who infused his body with Bruce Banner's gamma energy and a dose of cosmic rays. The result was a gigantic Hulk who isn't as strong as the original, but has some powers of his own.
Instead of getting stronger as he gets angrier, Red Hulk gets hotterand could even explode with the force of an atomic bomb. He is also capable of absorbing other forms of energy. When it debuted in 2008 (in Hulk Volume 3 #1by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness), Red Hulk made a name for himself by defeating the Watcher and the Silver Surfer. However, it was later revealed that this was not due to his inherent strength, but because he stole his own energy to do so.

Orange Hulk (Age of Apocalypse Hulk)
Like Superman, this Hulk is solar-powered
The Orange Hulk made a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in Strange X-Force #12by Rick Remender and Mark Brooks. This issue is set in the Age of Apocalypse timeline, where figures like Mister Sinister, Black Beast, and Sugar Man carry out extreme experiments to create superhuman soldiers. The Orange Hulk draws his energy form from solar radiation (like DC's Superman) and appeared to be similar to the green Savage Hulk in level of strength and intellect.
Other versions of an orange Hulk include an unlockable skin in Marvel vs. Capcoma construct created by Infinity Stone Bearer Multitude and the 'Infernal Hulk'. Introduced in John Layman and Juan Doe's Deadpool Annual #1This Hulk comes from an alternate reality where Bruce Banner became the Sorcerer Supreme and banished the Hulk to Hell, where he took on a new demonic design.
7
Yellow Hulk (AIM-enhanced)
Captain America's Nightmare World Created a Yellow Giant
Introduced in Matthew K. Manning and Marcio Fiorito Marvel Action: Avengers #9the Yellow Hulk is the result of the divine Nightmare messing with Captain America's mind. Nightmare brought Steve Rogers' nightmares to life, creating a pocket reality where his Avengers allies were corrupted by the terrorist group Advanced Idea Mechanicsaka AIM The Yellow Hulk is seemingly identical to the Savage Hulk in power and personality, but now has AIM's signature shade of yellow.
6
Blue Hulk (fused with the Enigma Force)
Fused with the Ultimate Symbiote, Hulk obtained a great power-up
One of Marvel's most underrated heroes is Captain Universe - a mutable identity created when the cosmic Enigma Force teams up with a mortal to protect the universe from outsized threats. On Jay Faerber and Charlemagne Captain Universe/Incredible Hulk #1the Enigma Force chose the Hulk as its new host, granting the Hulk cosmic consciousness, enhanced strength, flight, energy blasts, and the ability to transmute matter at the atomic level. Of course, the upgrade was temporary, and the Enigma Force later bonded with other hosts, including Deadpool and Venom.
Someone who can deserve the title of the Blue Hulk is Rick Jones. When Rick was exposed to gamma radiation by Intelligence, he became a new type of Abomination, naming himself the 'Atomic Bomb'. Strong, durable and retaining his human intellect, Rick fought alongside the Hulk in this new form with extra power to camouflage its gigantic body like a chameleon.
It's unclear why Rick turned blue like the atomic bomb, although it's likely that the weapon used to transform him mixed gamma radiation with other forms of energy. At the same time, given the mystical properties of gamma energy, it's possible that Rick simply hasn't to want being green, having been present in many of the Hulk's most tragic moments.
5
Purple Hulk (possessed by Shanzar)
This Hulk gained immunity to Doctor Strange's magic
In Peter David and Dale Keown Incredible Hulk #370-371Hulk is possessed by Shanzar - the evil Sorcerer Supreme from an alternate dimension. This appeared to increase Hulk's strength and give him immunity to magic, as Shanzar was not governed by the mystical laws of Earth-616. Shanzar's right to call himself the Purple Hulk is questionable, as the comic's interior art depicts him in black and white. However, the edition's cover shows it in purple and adaptations such as the cartoon Incredible Hulk show used purple coloring when adapting the story.
Someone more entitled to the name Purple Hulk is, surprisingly, Spider-Man villain Norman Osborn, aka Green Goblin. During the Dark Reign era, Osborn replaced Nick Fury as leader of world security. He later stole all of the Avengers' powers at once, assuming a gigantic Purple Hulk form after sampling Red Hulk's gamma radiation. However, the combined genetic abilities of so many different beings quickly destroyed his physical form.
Another potential purple Hulk was introduced in And if...? Season 2, Episode 3, when Happy Hogan is transformed with Bruce Banner's blood. This character is apparently a version of 'Brute' – an alternate reality Reed Richards – but he's purple and has gamma powers, meaning he definitely qualifies for the title.
4
Silver Hulk (Herald of Galactus)
Hulk gains cosmic power
Drawn by Ron Lim, the Silver Hulk is the star of the one-shot comic book And if...? Galactus transformed into Hulk? #1. The story sees Galactus choose Bruce Banner as his new herald, imbuing him with the Power Cosmic. As of this writing, this comic has not yet been released, but it appears that Hulk will have the Silver Surfer's powers, which can warp reality itself and unleash energy blasts that even gods should fear.
3
Black Hulk (Hulk's Titan Form)
Eldritch Magic Unleashes the Hulk from the Hulk
Bruce Banner's Hulk has taken on two notable dark forms - Titan and Kluh. Both were the result of magical manipulation that allowed the Hulk to experience unbridled ragecausing him to manifest a new form known as "the Hulk's Hulk." Kluh was raised in AXLE event, when a spell cast by Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch went wrong, reversing the moral alignments of several heroes and villains. Meanwhile, the volcanic monstrosity Titan appeared in Donny Cates and Ryan Ottley's film. Hulk Volume 5 - result of the demonic restructuring of Bruce Banner's mind.
Both Titan and Hulk were orders of magnitude stronger than Hulk, however, Titan also had the ability to release blasts of gamma energy and absorb it from others, allowing him to defeat an entire planet of gamma-irradiated Hulks. A final candidate for 'the Black Hulk' is the Asgardian monster Nul, who was referred to as such in Defenders Volume 4.
Introduced into Fear itself event, Nul is also known as the 'Breaker of Worlds' and embodies entropy, causing all things in his vicinity to corrode and collapse. Nul briefly possessed Hulk during the event and was later destroyed.
2
White Hulk (Hulk Clone)
He may be silly, but he's out there somewhere
Only appearing in 'Hulk Squad, Smash!' of Strange Tales Volume 5the White Hulk is essentially a wisecracking character from an anthology of weird and wild stories. However, the nature of the Marvel multiverse means this character he does officially exists in the Marvel canon, and he is described as part of "a team of experimental Hulk clones created by the government."
Another candidate for 'White Hulk' is the psychic predator Xemnu. Xemnu debuted in 1960 Journey into mystery #62by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, and was referred to as "the Hulk" before Bruce Banner's version even existed.
The Immortal Hulk I saw Xemnu try to take back the title, psychically controlling humanity so that they would forget Bruce Banner and remember Xemnu instead. Fortunately, the Green Goliath triumphed.
1
Hulk in skin tone (Doc Samson and 'The First Hulk')
Not all Hulks change color
Our final Hulk color has no color at all. In some cases, those mutated by gamma radiation obtain new bodies that remain essentially human. This was the case with superhero Doc Samson – a psychiatrist who tried to steal Hulk's powers. Although Samson became incredibly muscular, only his hair turned green. In the past, Bruce Banner showed the rare ability to use the Hulk's strength while still in human formsuggesting he also qualifies for the title of 'Skin Tone Hulk'.
Marvel's original Ultimate Universe continuity had a very more skin-toned Hulks, thanks to the introduction of Tyrone Cash. Known as "the First Hulk", Cash was a scientific mentor to this world's Bruce Banner and used his early research into the Hulk to achieve a gigantic new form. This world's Avengers later used Cash's powers, transforming Nick Fury, Hawkeye, Blade, the Punisher, and War Machine into gigantic, muscular fighters.
