Alice on the Border Season 3 has a chance to give us the Chishiya and Arisu moment that the series has been teasing since the first season. While Alice on the Border is about Arisu – after all, he is “Alice” trapped in a different reality – Chishiya stole the show and became one of the most popular characters in the Netflix live-action series. Netflix's version of Chishiya was a little different from that of Haro Aso's mangabut all the changes worked and created a very interesting character that ranged from a potential villain to a beloved anti-hero.
Other than Kuina, there was no one in Alice on the Border Chishiya would trust. The other characters soon learned to trust Chishiya, including Arisu. That said, at the end of Season 2, Chishiya went through a life-changing experience while playing King of Diamonds. After winning the “Beauty Contest”, Chishiya reevaluated how he views life and is now a different person than when he entered the games. Even so, he should still be a formidable player, and it would be fun to see Chishiya and Arisu compete against each other in Alice on the Border season 3.
Alice In Borderland Season 3 Needs Arisu and Chishiya Competing Against Each Other
Arisu and Chishiya barely played together in Alice In Borderland
Arisu and Chishiya were technically in two full games together – the Five of Swords and the Ten of Cups. However, we never see them working together or competing with each other, especially after we learn more about Chishiya. During Five of Swords, Chishiya was still an unnamed character whose importance to the story only those familiar with the manga knew. Although Arisu and Chishiya helped win the game, they were still strangers at that point.
After the King of Swords' first attack, Chishiya became separated from the rest of the group and spent most of the second season alone.
Likewise, while Arisu and Chishiya were part of Ten of Hears at the end of season 1they were in different parts of the beach while it was happening. Each character had their own demons to face during Which Hunt, with Arisu and Chishiya surviving and making it through the game's second phase. Then, after the King of Swords' first attack, Chishiya separated himself from the rest of the group and spent most of the second season alone, advancing through the Face Card games.

It was only at the end of Alice on the Border Season 2 that Arisu and Chishiya shared the screen again. Still, they weren't playing any games. That was when Chishiya was shot by Niragi, followed by Arisu and Usagi joining the others against the King of Swords. In other words, after Alice on the Border showed us more about Chishiya and how good he was at surviving, the Netflix series never put him and Arisu in the same game. This is particularly disappointing considering how they are arguably the best players on the program.
Arisu and Chishiya are the best Alice In Borderland players for different reasons
Arisu is creative, but Chishiya is willing to make sacrifices
Who is the smartest character in Alice on the Border – Chishiya or Arisu – is a popular debate among fans of the show. Looking at the source material, Haro Aso's Alice on the Border suggests that Chishiya is the smartest character in the story and is ready to take on any game, especially those that ask the player to let go of their feelings. Chishiya had no problems playing Heart games on Alice on the Borderwhich were games created to break someone's spirit, turning them against other people.
One of Chishiya's most impressive feats in Alice on the Border he was winning the Jack of Hearts, a game where confidence could be turned into a weapon. Not only is Chishiya extremely intelligent, but he also knows how to play both people and odds. Arisu, on the other hand, values strategy and creativity in each game. Arisu is the character who, regardless of the rules of the game, will try to find a way for everyone to stay safe at the end of it. This is why the games of Cups – especially the Seven of Cups – were so difficult for him.
Alice in Borderland Season 3 should better explore Arisu and Chishiya's dynamics
Arisu and Chishiya barely interacted in season 2
Chishiya went from a supporting character with a very strange moral compass in Season 2 to an antihero with a lot of screen time in Season 2. While most characters played in teams or duos, Chishiya got two important games all to himself in Alice on the Border 2nd seasonone of which he was not part of the manga. By giving Chishiya his own arc full of important moments in Season 2, Alice on the Border confirmed that he is now one of the series' central characters.
As such, there should be more moments in season 3 involving Arisu and Chishiya. These two have a complicated history, especially since Chishiya's betrayal in Season 1 is what allowed Niragi to capture Arisu and Usagi. Since then, most of Praia's survivors have become friends for lack of better options. We don't know exactly how Arisu and Usagi feel about Chishiya, much less how they would interact in the real world without the memories of everything they've been through. Hopefully, Chishiya will interact more with the other characters in Season 3.
Alice In Borderland Season 3 Will Struggle To Top Seasons 1 & 2 Games
Alice In Borderland Season 3 Will Have to Feature Original Games
Alice on the Border will probably never put Chishiya and Arisu in a game where only one of them can come out alive. That said, there should be plenty of ways to use these two characters prominently in the same game, whether as teammates or as adversaries. Anyway, Alice on the Border Season 3 will have to have new games that can somehow surpass what has already been done in the first two seasons. This will not be easy, considering that There were basically no games left from the manga to be adapted.
Netflix Alice on the Border has already created some original games. However, these were generally among the weakest games in the series. This includes the game Queen of Spades, which had a rather confusing ruleset and wasn't very fun to watch despite having a lot of action. Having a game with Arisu and Chishiya that allows them to show how intelligent they are would be a lot of fun, especially if they somehow regain their memories.
It's still unclear how and why the characters will return to the Frontier, if at all. Alice on the Border Season 2 ended where the manga ended, that is, from now on the Netflix series will tell an original story. Regardless of what happens, not having Arisu and Chishiya in the same scene more often would be a mistake.
