Below deck Mediterranean Season 9 is coming to a close, and Elena “Ellie” Dubach will not be returning for another season. Captain Sandy Yawn presided over a troubled crew, with potential producer plants chef Johnathan Shillingford and stew Bree Mueller causing trouble for the entire season. Bree and Eli’s feud over leading deckhand Joe Bradley certainly didn’t help, but their incompetence exacerbated strains on their three-man interior crew. Finally, Chief Steve Aesha Scott reached her limit, suggesting that Ali’s days on the hit Bravo series are numbered.
Ali was hired as the second chef aboard the Mustique Below deck Mediterranean Season 9. Unfortunately, Aesha was forced to work with a shoestring crew: while the Mustique normally requires four steves, Aesha was only working with two. Furthermore, neither Ali nor Brie are particularly experienced, and the pair are often fighting or working through hierarchy issues. Once Scottish stew Carries O’Neill was brought on board, Aesha could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Unfortunately, Ellie cares more about her ego than a smooth-sailing interior crew. She has to go.
Eli focused on hierarchy rather than improvement
She insisted on keeping power
Ali cared more about hierarchy than improvement, making her a terrible second stew. She rubbed her superiority in Bree’s face from the start. While it was helpful for her to show Bree the ropes and help her improve as a brand new cook, her concerns about hierarchy quickly soured after Bree showed interest in Joe. The two couldn’t get together so much that Aisha had to separate them because Bree was sleeping on the floor in Joe and Nathan Gallagher’s cabin. When Bree would try to stand up for herself, Ali would yell about hierarchy and how Brie was disrespecting her.

Ali wants to become a chief cook one day, evidenced by her questioning of Aesha. But, as Aesha pointed out, Ali seems to think that being a chief stew is just ordering people around and oozing power. She immediately attacked Kerry when she arrived at Mustik, claiming that Asha tried to take her down.
Ellie is not mature or experienced enough to become a master cook, and needs to focus on improving her skills.
actually, Carrie has major stew experience and is better at her job than EllieSo it only makes sense that Aesha would give her more responsibility. Eli was so upset about not being given the role of bartender after Curry arrived, but Eli’s drinks were consistently bad throughout the season. Meanwhile, Carrie has plenty of bartending experience. Because she was so concerned with hierarchy, this bothered Ali.
Ali does not care about the guests
She only cared about her own ego
The role of a cook is to maintain the interior and ensure that the guests have the best experience possible. But Ali doesn’t care about that, she just wants to wield power. If Ellie really cared about the guests, she would be thrilled by the addition of a fourth stew. It has enabled Aesha, Bree and Ali to do their jobs more effectively and bear less stress. However, Ellie was enraged by Carrie’s addition because she feels her power has been usurped.

At the same time, the guests on the Mustique have infinitely better experiences since the interior crew has increased. Ali says she wants to be a head chef, but she can’t even shed her ego as a second chef. She should be grateful to Carrie, but instead, she is jealous of her. Ellie needs to put in the work and the time to become a major stew and shift her attitude. Instead of focusing on herself, she should throw her energy to satisfy the guests. Only then can she improve in her work.
Ali’s focus on power messed up the interior crew
She started bossing Carrie around
Ali’s focus on power and hierarchy messes up the entire interior crew. The addition of curry should have been a saving grace for the stews, which were all stretched too thin. While Bree welcomed the new stew, Ali became a monster. She agreed that he should support Curry at every turn and not let her do the work she was used to, like bartending. Ali didn’t even pick all of Carrie’s decorating, insisting on her vision for the signs and balloons.
Carrie was hired as a floater, meaning it was her job to go wherever Aesha told her to go. By bossing Kerry around, Ali tried to usurp power from her main boss.
By insisting on hierarchy, Ali failed her fellow crew members. That’s why Eashe rightly took hold of himself. It remains to be seen if Ali can change her tune for the rest of the charter, but regardless, she shouldn’t be returning for another season of Below deck Mediterranean. She’s proven that her ego is bigger than her desire to serve others, and she doesn’t care about causing trouble on board. Ali has to go.
