After the shocking twist of Cobra Kai's Sekai Taikai, there's no way the tournament won't be canceled

Warning: MASSIVE spoilers ahead for Cobra Kai season 6 finale, part 2, “Eunjangdo”.Cobra KaiSekai Taikai's visit has resulted in an epic storyline so far, but the big twist at the end of Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2 asks how the tournament might move forward. Additions to Cobra Kai The Season 6 cast shook things up before the season's dramatic conclusion. Karate Kid spin-off show. Still, the fate of the newcomers is now up in the air following the death of a major character in the latest episode, “Eunjangdo.”

Cobra Kai confirmed that it will not be peacefulincluding a dark twist before its final five episodes. The Sekai Taikai Tournament has been touted for some time as the narrative device to bring the show to its inevitable conclusion. While that may still be true, it now seems less and less likely that the plot will end with a bookend like Miyagi-do lifting the trophy as the camera fades to black. However, this unpredictability is far from bad and should make the ending even more exciting.

Kwon's death in Cobra Kai season 6 certainly means Sekai Taikai will be canceled

Brandon H. Lee's Cobra Kai character died in an accident of his own making

Brandon H. Lee dead as Kwon in Cobra Kai season 6

Although Brandon H. Lee's death of Kwon Jae-Sung in Cobra Kai Season 6 doesn't exactly come out of nowhere, the fight at Sekai Taikai feels like an even bigger version of the high school riot at the end of Cobra Kai season 2. The season 2 fight could realistically have killed Xolo Maridueña's Miguel Diaz, but the fake-out implied that such things are practically impossible in the world of Cobra Kai. Then, the show catches everyone off guard by having Kwon fatally fall on his own knife, making the future of Sekai Taikai very uncertain.

Perhaps there was a small chance that the tournament could continue if the fight ended without any deaths. After all, the entire complex is full of hormonal teenagers trained in the art of Karate. While an all-out fight wouldn't show the greatest amount of restraint, it would at least be understandable why such a fight would break out. What is much harder to recover from is the death of a competitor – especially outside the confines of a sanctioned fight. Sekai Takai will certainly not be allowed to continue after Kwon's passing.

Sektai Taikai's cancellation would make it clear how Cobra Kai would end

The Karate Kid spinoff won't limp to the finish line

Cobra Kai had the perfect structure when Sekai Taikai was on the right track, as a Miyagi-do victory would have been the ultimate underdog story after the dojo's blistering comeback. If the long-running tournament ends abruptly after Kwon's deadly accident, there will be no clear path to the finish line. A sad plane ride home followed by everyone heading off to their respective futures just doesn't fit into a show that's been loaded with drama from the start. As such, Cobra Kaithe last-minute twist cast a shadow on the show's plan.

There is a lot of honor and feeling involved in Karate, so allowing Kwon's death to be in vain may not be an option.

Of course, there is still a small possibility that Sekai Taikai could continue. There is a lot of honor and feeling involved in Karate, so allowing Kwon's death to be in vain may not be an option. While it is unlikely that the event will continue to be televised, it is not outside the possibility that the tournament will be concluded quietly behind closed doors. That said, it's unclear who would take Kwon's place on the Cobra Kai team if that were to happen. However, Cobra Kai has already proven that dojo lineups can be quite malleable.

Set decades after the events of the Karate Kid franchise, Cobra Kai changes direction and puts viewers in the perspective of a former rival/antagonist, Johnny Lawrence. In his 50s and down on his luck, a chance encounter with a bullied young man leads Johnny back to Karate. Agreeing to help him, Johnny takes the opportunity to revive his old home, the Cobra Kai dojo - becoming a haven for outcast teenagers.
