After breaking sales records and delighting fans and critics, the ThunderCats are returning to their comic book roots in a new omnibus edition. ThunderCats has a rich history in television, spanning nearly four decades. The franchise also has deep ties to comics, including a fondly remembered run by Marvel in the mid-1980s. Now for those classics ThunderCats comics are finally back in print, courtesy of Dynamite Entertainment.
Dynamite announced the upcoming bus via a post on its website. THE Classic Thundercats Years Omnibus brings together all 24 editions of Marvel ThunderCats comic, which ran between 1985 and 1988. Dynamite’s next omnibus marks the return of these issues to print, nearly 40 years after their first publication, recolored and remastered to make them more incredible than ever. Dynamite will launch a crowdfunding campaign for the bus on November 18 via BackerIt. While the exact rewards have not been announced, Dynamite has promised that they will come in “premium” and “collectible” formats.

Dynamite Classic Thundercats Years Omnibus arrives on the eve of the franchise’s 40th anniversary. Launched in 1985 with an animated series and toy line ThunderCats it quickly became popular among its target audience. Marvel, seeing something special in the franchise, acquired the rights to the comics, and the first issue of the ThunderCats arrived in late 1985. The book ran for 24 editions under Marvel’s Star imprint, aimed at younger readers, and boasted major talents such as Gerry Conway, David Micheline and Tom DeFalco. The series ceased publication in 1988, and previous editions now command the highest value on the secondary market.
At the moment, ThunderCats is undergoing one of its biggest relaunches ever, thanks to Dynamite Entertainment, writer Declan Shalvey, and artist Drew Moss.
