After 12 great years, The Simpsons’ biggest game is officially shut down

After a long run as a popular mobile game, the end is on the horizon for The Simpsons: Tapped Out. The cityscape attracted many players by capitalizing on the memorable style and familiar places of The SimpsonsResulting in a colorful cartoon appeal that has managed to stand out in a crowded market. As a free-to-play title, tapped out Has always had a low barrier to entry, although dedicated players may end up investing heavily in its monetization features to build bigger and better versions of Springfield.

As announced on the game Facebook Page and reported by VGC, The Simpsons: Tapped Out Will be removed from storefronts on October 31, 2024With servers finally ceasing to operate on January 24, 2025. In-app purchases have been disabledPreventing anyone from further investing in something that won’t be around for much longer. The announcement celebrates tapped outs storied history, recognizing the 308 updates, 831 characters and 1,463 questlines that have featured in the game.

I’m always a bit wary when it comes to mobile free-to-play titles, as the carpet pulls that see games delisted often happen on an accelerated schedule. Although It’s impressive that tapped out Made it as long as it didIt’s still unfortunate that long-time players will have to see it go.

The Simpsons In the past, a long run of successful video game ventures, but it has been a long time since the steady stream of releases. With such a popular IP, however, there is no reason to give up hoping that The Simpsons: Tapped Out Will end up with some kind of successor sooner rather than later.
