His redemption arc is among the best in the science fiction genre, proving to be a constant anchor for stories throughout the franchise.

Aeryn's character arc officially concludes in Distant landscape #24 by Rockne O'Bannon, Keith RA DeCandido and Will Sliney. Farscape The abrupt cancellation in 2003 put a damper on the development Aeryn and the rest of the cast were going through, forcing the creators to decide to end the series in Peacekeeper Wars miniseries. At this point in the Distant landscape franchise, the Kkore invaded the Unexplored Territories, successfully conquering most of its nations. The Moya crew joins forces with survivors from Uncharteds to fight the Kkore – including Rolin, a mercenary hired to kill John Crichton and Aeryn Sun's son. Against all odds, they use their resources and fleeting strength to destroy the Kkore and its support ships. However, even this victory may not be enough in the long run.

The issue ends with John and Aeryn (with their son, Deke, in their arms) looking out over the galaxy as they realize that the alliance will not last beyond this victory. The government has been destroyed, the economy is non-existent and, among other problems, Scorpius has returned. John worries about what's to come, especially with his son in tow, but Aeryn reminds him to keep the faithbecause if they have nothing else in this universe, they have each other.

When Aeryn Sun first debuted in Distant landscapeshe was one of the villainous Peacekeepers. Even when she separated from them, she was still an incredibly callous and cynical person who needed to unlearn both her behavior and her attitude towards life. Her romance with John and the birth of his son were big steps in her unlearning process, and this issue shows the person she ultimately became. Aeryn at the beginning of Distant landscape would never have come to such an optimistic conclusion, so ending with her having true faith that peace is possible ends her journey nicely.

Distant landscape #24 is now available on BOOM! Studios.
