“A Season of Survival for Zombies: “All Of Us Are Dead” Season 2 Story Teaser Confirms a Popular Theory About Nam-ra’s Future

We are all dead season two has been described as a “survival period for zombies,” which all but confirms a popular theory about Choi Nam-ra’s importance in the future. Waiting for We are all dead the second season was incredibly frustrating, with the second chapter of the series still without a release date. We are all dead will reportedly only start filming season 2 in 2025which means the zombie K-drama might only return in 2026. That's why not much is known about what will happen next to the characters.

Another reason why It may be difficult to develop theories for We are all dead 2nd season is that the show has already covered most of the webtoon it is based on. Netflix's K-drama is now moving toward an original story, though it will certainly continue some of the stories created in the first season. This includes the introduction of hambies, the asymptomatic zombies of We are all deadwhich should be even more important in season 2.

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 is practically confirmed to focus on Nam-ra and The Hambies

We are all dead, the Hambies will have to fight for their survival

After the successful launch of We are all dead In Netflix's first season, Lee Jae-kyoo, one of the series' creators, teased what viewers could expect from the series' next chapter. Talking to HypeBeast KR (through What's on Netflix), Lee said that We are all dead was written “with season two in mind.” He also highlighted that although “The first season was a period of survival for humans” the second season would be a “survival period for zombies.” This strongly suggests that the surviving Hambies will be front and center in Season 2.

We are all deadHambies are technically zombies, in the sense that they have been infected with the Jonas virus. However, people like Nam-ra and Gwi-nam did not fully give in to the virus, maintaining consciousness despite the sudden desire for human brains. The military doesn't distinguish between normal zombies and hambies, which means Nam-ra and others like her are now targets. At the end of episode 12, Nam-ra, who had been away for months, told her friends that there were other hambies like her hidden in the wreckage of Hyosan.

As soon as the military – or what was left of it in Hyosan – learned of the existence of asymptomatic zombies, they changed their approach to the crisis. Firstly, all rescue missions were suspended because there was no way to confirm whether someone was an asymptomatic zombie. Secondly, as the virus continued to spread throughout the city and was at risk of reaching other regions, Commander Jin decided to authorize the bombing of Hyosan to stop the zombie threat once and for all.

Although it can be assumed that most of the zombies were killed during the bombings, it is safe to say that some of them must have survived. Additionally, As revealed by Nam-ra at the end, many Hambies have survived and are in hiding. The military will certainly continue to hunt down the remaining zombies – including asymptomatic ones – which means Nam-ra and her new friends will have to fight for their lives. This is probably what We are all deaddirector of director means “a period of survival for zombies.”

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Is About To Turn The Zombie Genre On Its Head

All Of Us Are Dead Season 2 Could Be About Zombies, Not Humans

Assuming We are all dead the second season will indeed be about hambies like Nam-ra trying to survive, the K-drama will turn the zombie genre on its head. Instead of a story about humans running from zombies, it will be a story about zombies running from humans. The idea that humans are the biggest threat in a zombie apocalypse is nothing new, but telling a story from the perspective of a zombie – or at least a half-zombie – is a new and exciting take on the genre.

Nam-ra may not be the only hambie main character in We are all dead season 2. If Cheong-san is alive, he will probably return as a hambie too, considering he was bitten by Gwi-nam during the final fight. Not to mention all the ambiguities that Nam-ra lives with. A zombie show where some of the main characters are actually zombies trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic city is a really fun premise that could make We are all dead Season 2 feels fresh compared to the first season.
