A Little Marvel Rivals Trick Will Massively Improve Your Damage

With the existence of a competitive mode classified into Marvel RivalsMany players are trying to find an advantage over their opponents to get them to higher ranks, be it Grandmaster or even One Above All. The practice field has proven to be a great place to experiment, especially if players want to experiment with combos with characters like Magik or want to improve their aim with names like Hawkeye and Hela. While practice always helps, some universal tricks are just as useful.

Marvel Rivals features some pretty extensive remapping and customization tools for PC users, allowing them to have certain settings for specific characters, such as the ability to change each character's aim. For the most part, the default keys are standard across the genre, like left-clicking for primary fire, pressing Q for ultimate ability, and so on, but a default option can be changed to get the most out of certain characters. Swapping the V melee key for a mouse button is particularly useful, especially for the Vanguard characters.

Rebinding the melee attack will help deal more damage to Marvel's rivals

And it only takes a few seconds

Fortunately, remapping controls is simple in Marvel Rivals. First, go to Settings by pressing the gear icon in the top left corner of the home screen, then the Keyboard tab (PC players) and find the corresponding setting in the Combat tab below it. There, the melee attack action, which is set to the V key by default, can be changed to a mouse button. This button should not be the right or left button, and although the scroll wheel is not recommended, it can be used if there are no side buttons on the mouse.

Remapping the melee button allows players move more easily when using melee attack and quickly add this attack in between using primary fire. Having the melee attack on the mouse instead of V makes it more convenientespecially for those who are not used to hero shooters or FPS titles. This change stands out as an advantage for characters who tend to have slow primary fire rates, where adding a mid melee attack will not affect the fire rate. This is particularly useful with Marvel Rivals'Avant-garde characters.

Using melee attack between primary fire will cause the damage to increase

It is especially powerful for Doctor Strange and Magik

Being able to quickly use the melee attack is amazing for characters who benefit from canceling the animation of that attack. Rivals' Magik is a prime example of this, as some of her combos require canceling the animation at the end of her primary attack into her melee attack (where she hits enemies with the tip of her sword). This makes your attack faster, generating your shield more quickly. Also useful for Doctor Strange as he can melee ranged enemies with his whip in between using his primary firehelping to generate more stacks of Dark Magic.

Characters like Venom, who shoots his tentacles slowly, can deal extra damage to nearby enemies with his melee between using his primary fire, and the damage builds up over time. It can be the difference between killing an enemy and letting them live. With Magik and Doctor Strange in particular, it's an invaluable resource, helping both generate stacks while dealing extra damage. This trick is just one of the many things that Marvel Rivals doesn't tell your players, and it's definitely worth trying with some heroes to deal more damage.
