These films will be directed by Patty Jenkins, Jake Kasdan and Joe Cornish.
Like the Hagemans Lego Ninjago film, the plots of all three other films are still under wraps. Another interesting similarity is that all four LEGO-based movies in development are considered live-action projects. This represents a big shift in the LEGO cinematic universe, which has historically focused on animated projects that mimic the style of the toys themselves. LEGO Ninjago is historically the weakest link
Doing a live action Lego Ninjago film is perhaps the biggest risk of the announced projects. With a Tomatometer of 56% and an even worse audience score, the animated film LEGO Ninjago Movie is regularly considered the weakest in the LEGO franchise. This presents a challenge for the Hageman brothers, as they will have to create something original and unique from one of the most hated aspects of the franchise. Not only that, but they’ll have to do it while navigating the franchise’s complicated shift to live-action.
