Art the Clown Terrifying
franchise is reinvented in a tribute to Batman: The Killing Joke. After appearing in several short films and All Hallows’ Eve (2013), Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) debuted in cinema in 2016 Terrifying by director Damien Leone. Since then, Art’s popularity has only grown and he returned in the 2022 film’s sequel, as well as this year’s film. Terrifying 3which was a huge critical and commercial success.

Artist Pedro Gilmore now shares a new version of Terrifying‘s Art the Clown, imagining what he would look like in his unique version on the cover of Batman: The Killing Joke. The killing joke the cover by artist Brian Bolland shows the Joker smiling maniacally while holding a camera over one eye in portrait mode. Why It Could Live Beyond the Terrifier Franchise

Art the Clown looks surprised as Santa Claus in Terrifier 3

Art the Clown is not a comic book character and is therefore unlikely to become a villain exactly like the JokerBatman’s archenemy, but the art above raises questions about his future. Although Art is now closely aligned with the Terrifying franchise, there’s certainly a chance it could go beyond that. Terrifying 3The box office success ensured the arrival of a fourth film, and Leone teased that a fifth could be coming too, but the Terrifying the franchise will end eventually.

Art the Clown is a highly unique character, however, in terms of his visual design and his Charlie Chaplin-style physical comedy jokes, and he could live beyond the end of the Terrifying franchise. Rights permitting, he could move on to another iconic franchise, just as he did in Freddy x Jason (2003) and Alien vs. Predator (2004). The Joker has also gone through countless different iterations and appeared in films in a variety of roles, and Art the Clown could finally be revived in a new way years later.

What a Batman crossover would look like

The Joker remains not only one of Batman’s most memorable opponents, but also one of the most iconic villains ever created. Art the Clown is unlikely to rise to that same statusbut he has certainly become an important figure in the world of horror.

If Art the Clown ever crossed over to the Batman universe, the film would have to be rated R due to its extremely violent tendenciesand it would likely have to take on a supernatural tone that Dark Knight stories typically don’t have. Art the Clown will never face Batman, but he seems destined to live beyond the grave. Terrifying franchise in one way or another.
