The Animal Crossing community supports a player who suffered huge in-game losses

After one Animal Crossing: New Horizons The player lost his entire island, the community offered to help him restore it. Many players spend tens to hundreds of hours creating and decorating their island, and losing even a little progress can be a huge setback. It’s hard to imagine losing an entire island, but that’s exactly what happened to one player.

Reddit user DusyaDu details his ordeal on Reddit after sending the switch in for repair. Having worked on his island for more than 1680 hours, Switch DusyaDu experienced a terrible “orange screen of death” which essentially locked the console. DusyaDu sent their console to Nintendo to get it fixed, hoping that a cloud backup would preserve the island’s data and allow them to immediately get back to creating once they got their Switch console back.

Unfortunately, the switch was beyond repair and the Redditor received a new switch in the mail. Moreover, unfortunately, it was not possible to save the cloud, which led to complete loss of the entire island, EverGreen.

Luckily, DusyaDu still has the dream island address, allowing any player to visit the island. This prompted others to offer to help restore the lost island by donating items.

Reddit user Rosa-Asia suggests that since other people can still visit and explore the island through his dream code, they can help DusyaDu by sending them the items they will need to restore it.

Others echoed the sentiment in the comments section, offering to send Reddit any items, materials, plants or anything else they need. At this point, DusyaDoo is too disappointed to work on the island again, but if they decide to do so, it’s clear that the community will do everything they can to support them.

It may seem that there is no hope left for this player’s creation, but it is still possible to restore the island. Some comments have suggested that it may be possible to restore the island by working with Nintendo, although the process is labor intensive and not easy, it is possible.

Some people in the comments say that they had a similar experience and were able to restore their saves. Save system for Animal Crossing works differently than regular saves, which obviously gives Nintendo the opportunity to potentially recover lost progress, although it comes with its own challenges. According to Redditor Doctor KarabuIt took 4 hours on the phone, but I got mine back.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released during a difficult time for everyone, and many players found solace in this wholesome island design game. Next Animal Crossing the title is rumored to be in development, but it may be difficult to recreate the bond the community currently shares.
