Star Wars has primed Palpatine’s homeworld of Naboo to be essential in the next phase of Star Wars Movies and TV shows. Upcoming Star Wars Points and some of Star Wars Upcoming movies are set during the Mandalorian era, which runs concurrently with the New Republic timeline. Among them are Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, Ahoska Season 2, and The Mandalorian & GroguAlthough Dave Filoni’s currently untitled Mandalorian movie will also undoubtedly be set around the same time.
This period of the Star Wars This timeline is currently the focus of the franchise, at least for the foreseeable future. While this will mean new characters, storylines and planets, it will also see the return of various elements from other eras, among them the home planet of both Palpatine and Padmé. actually, Naboo is perfectly positioned to become a major player in the galaxy once again during the New Republic era.
Naboo was crucially important in the prequel trilogy
Naboo was key in these Star Wars Prequel trilogy for several reasons. This started with Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom MenaceIn which the tensions between Naboo and the Trade Federation kicked off the events of the entire trilogy. It was because of the Trade Federation’s blockade that the Jedi became involved in Naboo, which ultimately led them not only to work alongside Padmé but also, by accident, landing on Tatooine, where Qui-Gon Jean discovered young Anakin Skywalker.
Naboo is arguably equally important in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the ClonesAs it was where Padmé and Anakin traveled together to protect Padmé after there were several attempts on her life. During their time together, Padmé and Anakin developed strong feelings for one another (although Anakin already had them, really), and they later returned to Naboo and were married there. Even in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the SithPadmé’s funeral was held on Naboo, highlighting its significance once again.
Naboo was important off screen
While Naboo’s decreased screen time might make it seem like the planet’s importance died with Padmé, that’s not the case. Naboo remained quite remarkably healthy after all Revenge of the Sith. Star Wars revealed in both books and comics that Leia Organa herself sought Naboo’s help in setting up the Republic after the fall of the Empire because the planet was so crucial in the Old Republic.
Leia Organa herself sought Naboo’s help in re-establishing the Republic after the fall of the Empire.
in the Star Wars funny Shattered Empire 2Leia visited Naboo and spoke directly with the then queen, Sosha Soruna. Leia explained:
“…Naboo represents the Best of the Old Republic. his help –Yours Help, Your Highness – would be Invaluable In leading the way to a restoration of the Senate. As we attempt to form a New Government, we hope that we can rely on NABU’s support, counsel and assistance.“
Not only is the story touching because it connects Leia to Padmé in a deep way, but it also reveals that Naboo is still critically important, and Leia (and Mon Mothma, who sent Leia on this mission) knew it.
Naboo’s New Republic era storyline is worth telling
It would be thrilling to see Leia (who would need to be recast) visit Naboo, whether there is an on-screen version of the story in Shattered Empire 2 Or a brand new story, but the story of the New Republic of Naboo would be fascinating even if Leia wasn’t involved. In the same comic, Queen Soruna tells Leia that Naboo bore great shame for being the planet Palpatine came from. It’s hard at times to remember that Palpatine came from such a beautiful, primarily peaceful planet, however Palpatine started out as a senator from Naboo.

To see the fallout of the Empire has proven interesting for countless planets and groups, among them the Mandalorians and, of course, the Jedi. The story would provide something new to Star WarsHowever, in that Naboo would have to face the truth that someone from their planet was going to dominate the galaxy and terrorize many planets – Naboo included, although the planet did not suffer the same fate of many others. Rather than violent occupation, Naboo has effectively reduced its royalty to little more than figureheads.
Naboo would have to face the truth that someone from their planet was going to dominate the galaxy and terrorize many planets.
The connection to Naboo would also be interesting since the planet is such a massive part of Padmé’s legacy. There is clearly much more history to tell here, especially in this era. Even so, it seems Naboo may come back to these Star Wars screen even soonerBased on some updates about the upcoming Andr Season 2.
Could Naboo return even sooner?
Reports have surprisingly indicated that Andr Season 2 filmed in a location previously used for NabooWhich could mean that the planet is making a retrograde in the upcoming season. This would be especially interesting as it could mean revealing what the Dark Times looked like for Naboo. Although Star Wars Comics and books have explored that to some degree, as mentioned, seeing that on screen would be compelling, and the fate of Naboo could be explored in so much more detail.
It would also be interesting to see if other planets felt the same way about Naboo. It makes sense that the people of Naboo would carry guilt about their planet being Emperor Palpatine’s homeworld, but does that translate to other planets and people seeing Naboo through this lens or blaming them for Palpatine’s creation? It is possible, although this would be largely unfair; Palpatine was angry, but nothing about Naboo seems to have fostered that in him. It’s also clear, given Leia and Mothma’s desire to recruit Naboo, that not everyone blames them, if anyone.
Of course, a filming location cannot confirm that Naboo will appear in Andr Season 2. Star Wars Used some incredible locations for Naboo in the prequel trilogy, most famously Lake Como in Italy, and it may be the case that there is some other lush planet that will have a similar environment. It might seem a bit too coincidental, but it’s possible that the connection won’t mean that Naboo will return.
Does Naboo appear in Andr Season 2 or not, Star Wars should take advantage of the planet by incorporating it into upcoming movies and TV shows set in the New Republic era. Clearly, there are already canon Star Wars Stories set in this time period confirm that Naboo was a major player in this era. This would also be a nice call back to those Star Wars Prequel trilogy and to Padmé Amidala. It remains to be seen whether that will happen, however Star Wars Could very well be confirming the return of Naboo during the Mandalorian era.
